I'm all for developing the grass roots game and this can only be a good thing for both clubs
Time will tell if it's been successful. But worth a try

Good to have a link up with a local club. Can anyone advise if clubs are only allowed one team to link up with as completely unsure why leith athletic have been bypassed after producing players to make the grade in the form andy McNeil, Darren macgregor and the one and only Leigh griffiths

Hopefully this approach can be used with other youth football organisations across Scotland to offer an elite pathway to the best young players beyond the Lothians too.

to be fair....Leigh had more clubs than Tiger Woods when he was younger. Sure he was at Leith, then Hibs, then Hutchie, then Livi, Dundee.

Not nicknamed Sparky for nothing....class player though

My son trains with Hibs and does not play for Spartans. Possibly missing something here but sounds as if he would now possibly have to move to a Spartans team per this announcement, cannot see other Lothian clubs happy about losing players this way. Although the more I see of kids football the politics are incredible even at a young age!!

This sounds like a very good move by Hibs.

I particularly like the part of the announcement which states "the best quality coaches will be recruited for the new programme." :aok:
