Back of a fag packet calculations time.

Let's start with a premise that by the end of June, our weekly wage bill for existing contracted players is:

1. Stanton £500
2. Harris £500
3. Away an' chew yer toes £750
4. Robertson £1,000
5. Euan Smith £500
6. Jordon Forster £500
7. Lewis Stevenson £500
8. Callum Booth £250

Total - £4,500 a week or £234,000 per annum.

Let's also say that we keep wages at last year's 49% of turnover figure based on a vastly reduced turnover this time of £5.5m

Not all wages are player wages so let's say that 49% (£2.7m) can be brought down to the £1.9m as quoted on this board.

So £1.9m bucks to blow and £0.234m already blown leaves us with £1.67m (rounded up) to spend.

8 players already on board. Let's factor in some youngsters to take that up to 13 players at £250 a week each = £65,000

Still leaves us with £1.6m bats to play with and let's say we want a squad of 27, requiring 14 new signings.

£1.6m divided by 14 = Contract offers of £2,200 per week per player.

Leann will never offer that will she?

Is this the board's masterplan?

Are we the new Gretna?

How soon is Now?

I think we get a parachute payment of £ 500,000 for dropping out of the top league in 11th position.

Yams get £ 300,000 for relegation in 12th and being cheating bassa's. :greengrin

I can't remember if the wages part of the accounts includes PAYE or not. If so, that kicks a hefty whack out of the backside of the figures proposed above.

I may be a bit silly here but £250 pw really ? So £13,000 a year that is very close to working in McDonalds for minimum wage ! :cb
I really cant see any fulltime footballer over the age of 20 accepting £250 a week.

If those wage suppositions are even REMOTELY close to the mark there's your answer as to why no one in a Hibs jersey looks like their interested in delivering the goods, I sincerely hope they are wrong because it doesnt take a genius to sus that no one is going to make any effort in a team that pays like that

Remember those are estimated halved figures due to relegation.

13 youth players at £250 per week is £169000 per year. Revised weekly wage would be £2060 for the 14 coming in. (appropriate not trying to be too pedantic smiley 😁)

Could you adjust your calculation to take account of the 6k per week we'll be paying Skacel.

Thanks.
