Think this boy looks pretty good in midfield, and hits the odd good free kick, but £40M? Nae chance

He's a good player but not at that price. Great deal for Chelsea....especially if the FFP ever gets operated in the right way.

Very good business by Chelsea. He's a good player but you could easily replace him with that kind of money, and have plenty money left over.

Old fogey alert.

I well remember the day when Martin Peters went to Spurs for £200k.

Luiz worth 200 Martin Peters?

Fantastic bit of business for Chelsea if the deal goes through.

To be fair, he signed for Spurs in 1970 and £200,000 back then would be £2.7 million nowadays.

So only 14.8 Martin Peters'.

Isn't worth half of that, massively overrated defender. 4th best center back at Chelsea for 40m, Mourinho must be laughing.

£25-30 million maybe...£50 million is just throwing money away

Sky Sports News currently reporting that the deal's worth £50 million.

Surely not!

Given PSG's recent run-ins with the FFP people, I am a bit boggled at this.

Unless Zlatan's off to Tynie for £100m.

A dodgy centre half but a superb holding midfielder. Still never a £50m player, the game's gone mad.

I thought Psg were in a similar position to man city regarding transfers? That's mind boggling. Ridiculous too the boys got ability for sure but that sort of money for him.is insane...

He's a very versatile, intelligent, quick, strong player. Fantastic piece of business but will be sorely missed by Chelsea fans.

Cracking player, pace, good in the air, can tackle, pass, the lot!! Few lapses in concentration therefore better off in the holding midfield role but he is still young and will learn!

Could have had him for £150k in January but we baulked for £500 a week.

Better up your game Rod

Must have Derren Brown as his agent as that is just ridiculous money for a player that is nothing more than decent. Bit of a bombscare at times as well...

:agree: I think he would have looked something else in the Spanish league if he'd gone to Barca.

Plays a lot better beside Thiago Silva than anyone else but doesn't warrant that ridiculous price tag. Some thing dodgy going on due to FFP?

333 Leighs at £150k each.

A great bit of business by Chelsea. Despite his strong play and dashing persona he makes a few mistakes.

They are lucky to get that price for him.

Gary Neville summed him up well when describing him as "playing as though he's being controlled by an 8 year old on Fifa"
