I enjoyed this day (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YfCKguT3fAM) immensely.

A wee day out to Firhill, where Accies were temporary tenants, Hibs had to win and Falkirk had to lose for Hibs to win the title & promotion.

Despite the very slim chance of Hibs actually winning the league that day, over 4,000 Hibbies turned up and had a party!

A repeat tomorrow would be nice.

Used to love how Latapy just seemed to bounce off defenders like that. Happy days.

5 mind before the end the announcer said that strathclyde police would not allow fans on the pitch at the end of the game. This was met with a great cheer and sure enough when the final whistle blew we all invaded the pitch. I still have some of the turf in a case. I got Russell to sign the programme at the open day in the summer. Great memories. GGTTH

Agreed. Best first touch I have ever seen in the Scottish game. He made fitba look so easy.

Great day out, people going daft when it filtered through Falkirk were losing, no smartphones either, it was the old fashioned radios to the ear.

That was a great result and great celebrations at FT too! :agree:

I was there with both my sons, my Dad, my brother and his two oldest girls and what a day out it turned out to be! :agree: :greengrin

Reading the Lugton bibles again and couldn't help notice a certain Hibernian defeat of Hamilton Accies 3-0 away (1888 or sometime), we could do with similar score/spirit tomorrow!

One thing about this match I remember REALLY well was that we sat just a few seats away from Ollie Gottskalkson's family. There were three rather attractive women there, presumably wife and sisters, with blue eyes and long blonde hair that distracted quite a lot of the fans from the game itself...

I think Ollie had the same distraction a lot of the time...

Does anybody remeber the unfortunate stewerdess who had an uncanny likeness to Mandy Dingle. Thousands of Hibs fans singing for 90 minutes

Reminds me of a game at Tannadice a few years ago.

There were 3 stewards who were all a bit unfortunate looking, AKA typical Dundonians, who happened to walk past the Hibs support together. Cue 1500 Hibbies singing the tune to the Addams Family.
