Was the 4G at the training centre not good enough?

It's no where near as good as Spartans

It's not full sized IIRC.

The roof on the barn isn't high enough, the hoofball would get stuck in the rafters.

There is no such thing as 4G or 5G apparently

:agree::greengrin:boo hoo:

That comes into the sad but true category.

PS The answer is obviously to extend the height of the roof :wink:

Or as Lew Grade said about raise the Titanic, it would be cheaper to lower the ocean!

Do we not have an outdoor 3g replica of the ER pitch at EM?

The full size outdoor pitch at EM is a "FIFA 2 star" surface which can have international matches played on it - one of the u12 coaches was telling me this a couple of years ago. Its a rating system set up by FIFA. I have been on the pitch a couple of times and it is just like 3G/4G.

And good chance of barn falling down. :greengrin

I thought that as well, after 3G is it not a hybrid pitch.

Someone on here works for a astro company IIRC. 3g can have two different types, one is more for sports like field hockey and the other is the rubber crumb which I think people call 4g. Could be completely wrong there.

The pitch will play differently at night times, Hibs should have considered all options when they have been using Spartans pitch, trained on it one night with the warm weather and a other night when the surface should have been watered, and the same through the day as well, in the warm weather the ball has a habit of sticking to the pitch and sending the ball in to a unnatural spin, it can be a nightmare for goalies who aren't used to it, and it is the total opposite if the surface is wet., the ball skids along the surface quite fast, passing has to be to a tee when wet.

Just my thoughts. :greengrin

Just checked and it looks like a FIFA 2 star surface is an accreditation given to the highest quality 3G surfaces, which is what Hibs have at EM. Maybe its too good a quality surface to get used to playing at Hamilton, but I'd imagine theirs will be a decent quality too!
