Fairly heavy police presence outside The Standing Order. Bunch of bams outside drinking, all had some badge logo embroidered onto their clothing. One of them told me in the toilet my yellow and blue trainers were quality and I had to wear them on the 12th and shout no surrender.

As I was leaving another group were heading in and they were all wearing identical shirts with some embroidered logo too but a different one to the first group.

There was a march in Princes Street earlier for Nowrwegian Constitution Day but assuming it's not the same people you saw.

Strange that the council would permit 2 events on the same day though.

The zombie 'SDL' were in for a show today. I sincerely hope one or two got/get picked off today and receive good batterings.
They are the country's disgrace after all.

From a social media site posted yesterday:-

Edinburgh Against the Racist SDL
Edinburgh Central SNP MSP Marco Biagi describes racist SDL's plans to lay wreath for Lee Rigby as “nothing short of repugnant”.

'MEMBERS of the far-right Scottish Defence League are planning a wreath-laying ceremony in memory of murdered soldier Lee Rigby in the centre of Edinburgh tomorrow.

Up to 100 SDL activists are expected to take part in the lunchtime event outside the Scottish Government building in Regent Road, marking the first anniversary of the brutal killing near the Royal Artillery Barracks in London.

Two men are serving life sentences for hacking Drummer Rigby to death.

But campaign group Unite Against Fascism has accused the SDL of using Lee Rigby’s murder to promote a message of hate and spread racism.

And it is organising a counter-demonstration in nearby Waverley Steps from 12 noon.

Malcolm Chisholm, Labour MSP for Edinburgh Northern and Leith, said: “It is absolutely wrong to exploit the memory of Lee Rigby in this way, as his family have made clear. The racist hate of the SDL must be challenged and rejected at every opportunity.”

The far rights hijacking of the Lee Rigby murder really gets my back up.

His family asked several times that he wasn't made a 'martyr' because he, and they, didn't share the views expressed by these groups.

The fact the SDL, BNP et al continue to use Lee Rigby on flyers, in broadcasts and at events like this show it's nothing to do with respect and everything to do with being inflammatory.

It's a bit of a "we"re against this sort of thing" march and a "we're against that sort of thing" counter protest. Good luck to them all.

Same here. I dislike the BBC's Andrew Neil but seeing him lay into the leader of "Britain First" was very good to watch. A party made up of ex-BNP members who have hijacked the murder of Lee Rigby for their own political gain make me sick.

Good to see this demonstration got no media attention.
Left in the bin. That's what cockroaches deserve.

Sounds like another outing to the big city for the people of Fathell, West Lothian, Fife, Lanarkshire, and Ayrshire. No doubt they'll have tales to tell when they get home,

Nothing wrong with pretending these people have some relevance to modern Scotland. It keeps them distracted.
