Probably not the correct forum? if so please move.
If you are going to Turkey from now on you need to apply for a visa online (and pay for it in US Dollars), instead of the old "drop an English tenner in the box" on arrival. Just thought it might help people going on their hollybags later this year.
Details available at www.visa.gov.tr.
Have a good one and remember to:WEAR SUNSCREEN.

They'd have made a whole lot more out of me if they'd asked for money tae get oot of Turkey rather than a tenner tae get in! 😁

Can't say it's a big deal to be honest, these 2 week holidays to Turkey and the like are hardly that expensive in the scheme of things? Until recently NZ had a 'departure tax' to be paid everytime you left (even if you were returning a day later!) and even now I believe it's built into the airfare. The UK has similar exorbitant taxes added on to airfares, so I wouldn't grudge the Turks 20 quid. Probably need it to clean up the resorts that drunken Brits leave in a mess

In the grand scheme of things £13ish isn't a huge amount.
If you want to enter the US for example and aren't in the groups entitled to a Visa waiver, you can expect to pay over $130 and have to travel to London at least once. Visiting India you can expect to pay over £80. If you need a Visa to enter the UK you can also expect to pay £80+.
In the grand scheme of things an extra £13ish isn't a huge amount.

It's not really the amount of cash,as you say it's not a fortune unless you go with a big family! I don't understand why it needs to be US Dollars and paid online. If Turkey really want into Europe maybe could have used the Euro?

You can still pay at the airport for the Visa same as previous years. They extended this until the end of December 2014, when everything will switch to just online
