Motherwell 6–6 Hibernian

Crazy game to say the least

Only Hibs - but that's why we love them

Can't believe that is 4 years ago.

I was still living in Aberdeen at the time. Remember myself and 2 mates going absolutely mental in the pub.

I still insist to this day that Graeme Smith was concussed, he took a head knock and then started throwing them in. Either that or he was on the take...

A mate of mine was texting me the scores as they happened and I thought he was taking the p***.

Scary to think that was four years ago!

Six goals in one game as well!

How times have changed! :greengrin

We might love them, but there was no love lost on them that night or at any time around about then, by a number of still-prolific posters too.

That was a right crappy week. Us letting a four goal lead slip and the Tories winning the Election.

I was there that night and it was going so well. Even sang Cheerio Cheerio to the Well fans.

I remember my mate turning to me at 6-2 and saying 'You'll finally see Hibs win at Fir Park'..

To which I still haven't and I refuse to go back ! 4 years, crazy !

Passed up studying for my first year exams (which I eventually ended up having to resit) to go to this game and to this day I've never seen anything like it.

Asked a Lanarkshire-based pal and on-off Motherwell fan to go see the game with me. She ended up not attending, how she regretted it. :greengrin

:agree: I'm still convinced he gave that pen away on purpose. Thinking back makes you realize how reliable Williams actually is.

Didn't he save the penalty?

Bit of a long way round if he was on the take. Or he had exceptional faith in his ability to save it! :greengrin

Didn't he save the penalty?

Aye but the odds at Ladbrokes for a 6-6 draw and a saved penalty were extremely good. In fact too good to miss.

I am the same. Won't go back there.

Forgot Riordan played for us that night. Went to Tannadice on the Sunday though to see them win 2-0 and clinch Europa League ;)

Craziest Hibs game I have ever watched! A Colin Nish hattrick and so typical that only Hibs would f*** up a 6-2 lead with 15 mins to go. Could have been 7-6 if Forbes scored that penalty. Having said that, some finish from that lad who is now at Bolton and I still struggle to pronounce and spell his name. Jutkiewictz?

Undoubtedly big Nish's best week in his time with us.

Good job Dundee United had a cup final to prepare for and fielded a weakened team. Benji's last game too before he headed off to Real Madrid. :greengrin

Graeme Smith! I forgot about our decade of crap keepers.

Along with...Malkowski, Ma-Kalambay, McNeil...over 150 league appearances between them!

Having said that, I did like Williams, Stack, Anderson and Szamotulski.

I remember his tears. Sol Bamba going crazy at FT with John Rankin throwing his boots into the stand at FT.

I'm a wee bit dissappointed that in all this talk of how crazy the game was nobody has mentioned the most astounding, unbelievable and jaw dropping thing of all.

Colin Nish scored a ******* Hat Trick!

Still can't believe how good that last goal was. I thought Hanlon had done ok to get back goal side and shepherd him out.

Looking back I'm actually pleased for those Motherwell fans that stayed, its all too easy to walk out but you might miss something special.

Second last game of the season, away from home, a night match and our centre forward scored a hat trick.

Could it be an omen? No didn't think so. :greengrin

What a game, was privileged to be there. We can only dream of having a goal scoring strike force like Stokes and Riordan now

I'd take these expectations now, where did we finish in the league that year, how many points did we get

The fact that we went on to qualify for europe a few days later, made this game 1 of the best I have ever been at. Showed me that anything can happen in a game, especially a Hibs 1.

Sod that, only Hibs could have been 6-2 up, then 6-5 up in injury time and be done by a ball over the top with no one else near our last defender. That was an absolute joke that night, regardless of the 'I was there' reputation the game has.

Preferred the first six goal haul at Fir Park :agree:

Whoa!! 4 years already. Was living in Alaska at the time and I remember I was getting text updates from my sister back home. At 3-1 I was buzzing, network went down due to where we were that day, then next texts I got said 6-6. Couldn't believe it.

I must be a bad omen, I remember telling my dad, while we were watching it, there was no way Motherwell could come back from this. Then my dad was like "Don't say that!" Then you all know the rest...
