Gets a banana thrown at him, picks it up and eats it. Superb:agree:

I struggle to get my head round the fact that people still throw bananas at players because of their skin colour in 2014.

It's insane. I just can't fathom what goes through these peoples tiny little minds.

Poor man's Stevie Fulton (wasn't it?) who picked up and ate a pie thrown at him. And I might be making this up, but didn't a hun of some sort drink out of a beer can thrown at him at ER some moons ago? (Gazza? Charlie Adam? Forget now.) :dunno:

Brilliant. Remember Mark Walters doing the same about 30 years ago at The PBS

:agree: seems to be a bit more of a problem in spain than the uk. Didnt thierry henry suffer racial abuse in spain a few years back? Excellent way to deal with it from Alves.

Tragic that this sort of thing happens, but what a response to it, completely nullifies the intended offence by showing how petty it is, well done Dani.

Maybe we should be throwing some on to the pitch next week. Andy Murray scoffs bananas and looked how well he played. Might give our players that bit more energy. Enough to stay awake for the full 90 minutes.

Good lad.

Couldn't have blamed him for giving whoever threw it a smack in the chops but showed a bit class there and dealt with it brilliantly.

Just reading on twitter that when he was asked about it he said: "My dad always told me: Son, eat bananas to avoid cramp. How did they know?"

Plenty of support (http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/27194672) from fellow players for Alves, and rightly so. Just disappointing that things like that can still happen in the 21st century.

A the rangers "fan" threw a beer can at George Best at ER whilst the great man was about to take a corner. Bestie, as you suggested, pretended to take a drink. Even the hun fans applauded him.

Perhaps he thinks that having a different skin colour is some sort of potassium deficiency...

Either that or he's a racist idiot.
