Sorry for the tardiness. My company had a few power and IT outtages this week.

Management Report – David Forsyth

Season Tickets
ST sales are roughly in line with 2013 but this year we won’t have the Cup Final uplift. Management have introduced many of the special offers discussed by the supporter/management Sales & Marketing group last season.

Feedback from those present was that last year’s ‘Forever Green’ theme for ST renewals had gone down better with supporters than this year’s ‘TBGAWA’ theme. David wondered if the very poor form had a more negative impact than the 2014 theme?

Projects
David confirmed that the Board were still committed to taking forward one of the key initiatives proposed by groups during 2013. The meeting agreed that the relevant board member should make contact with the HWT team lead with a view to bringing the original project team back together.

It was acknowledged that HWT had kicked off a number of projects last year but between management and supporters we didn’t have the bandwidth to support them all. The lesson learned is to start less and finish more. Look out for an announcement over the coming weeks in relation to the launch of the next initiative.

Working Together Events Calendar
David has confirmed that once we have compiled the full list of events for all Hibernian Family groups for next season, the club designer will have a look at how that can be set out to best effect and we can decide where this information should be displayed e.g. leaflet, website etc.

Leith Festival 2014
This event will be held over the week 14th to 22nd June. In addition to the stadium tour, the Hibernian Community Foundation will have an increased involvement. Management are keen to offer the stadium as a venue for any groups or branches seeking to run an event in conjunction with the festival or open day on Sunday 15th June. It’s also Fathers Day which may give some supporters an idea……….or to suggest to their better halves.

Hibs Supporters Association – Douglas Roxburgh

Working Together Events Calendar
The Association will be contributing to the events calendar including dates of regular meetings, events and activities involving the Leith Community. Delegates will be involved in all HWT projects going forward.

Association Working Together
With the four HWT quarterly review meetings with Board/Management to be held in the Stadium the Hibs club will now be hosting eight Working Together meetings per annum. These get-togethers are held on the second Wednesday of the month at 6.30 pm for 7pm. Tea/Coffee/Biscuits are provided with access to the bar at appropriate times.

All supporters are welcome whether members or non-members to talk all things Hibs. The Trustees will also welcome working groups to use the club for meetings. There are a variety of suitable spaces and facilities include flipchart, stages and audio visual screens for presentations.

Branch delegates particularly welcome
The HWT group would like to record their thanks to the Association Trustees for their hospitality and would welcome a greater presence from officials and branch delegates going forward. Since Wednesday 9th, Emerald Branch has indicated that they will send a delegate to future meetings.

Leith Festival 2014
The Saturday Gala Day in Leith Links attracted 15,000 visitors last year and all Hibbies attending the Gala are encouraged to visit the Hibs Club with their families. The Association will be liaising with Festival Organisers to promote Sunnyside as a Leith Festival venue in 2015.

Note that the programme is due out towards the end of May. Website links can be found below:-
http://www.leithfestival.com/?attachment_id=1944

2015 – 50th Anniversary
Next year will be a huge year for the HSA who celebrate their 50th anniversary. Hibs will celebrate their 140th anniversary

The trustees are discussing opportunities for the Association to get involved in future Edinburgh Festivals.

Hibernian Historical Trust – Ian Young

Dinner
The fundraising dinner planned for end of season will be rescheduled to later in the year - details to be announced.

New projects
The Trust is presently conducting a feasibility study into the possibility of a permanent feature at Easter Road celebrating some our history. A number of options are under investigation. A working group have been formed from across the Hibernian Family and they hope to have more news for us in the close season.

Leith Festival 2014 – Hibs Historical Tours
Over 2,000 visitors attended the stadium tours in 2013 and this year the open day will start in the main reception, West Stand at Easter Road Stadium to include open gallery displays and escorted tours of West Stand including dressing rooms, players lounge, boardroom, directors box and pitch side. Their will be access also to the club shop, East Stand concourse and celebration/memorial wall.

The tours will be held between noon and 4pm on Sunday 15th June. Children under 12yrs should be accompanied by an adult. Enquiries to curator@hibshistoricaltrust.org.uk

Hibernian Former Players Association (HFPA) – Maurice Dougan

Work of the Association
The Association caterer for the welfare and community of former players of Hibernian Football Club. The HFPA has members across the globe and caters for all generations of players including players who are still putting on their boots and plying their trade in the game. The HFPA also perform a number of charitable activates including the following:-

Leith Festival 2014
The HFPA field a team of legends who play matches against an array of local opposition. One of the annual highlights is the match that takes place on Leith Links between Leith Legends and Hibs Legends. This event is run for the benefit of Children with Cancer & Leukaemia Advice & Support for Parents CCLASP) Paul Kane as patron and match organiser.

Working with HHT & Alzheimer Scotland – Football Memories
The association work with the HHT to support the Alzheimer Scotland Football Memories Project. The project was launched in 2009 by Lawrie Reilly and trains volunteers to spend time with people with dementia who have an interest in football, talking about teams and matches from the past and working with images and memorabilia to stimulate memories. The project is a partnership between Alzheimer Scotland, the Scottish Football Museum and participating clubs. See the link below:-
http://www.footballmemories.org.uk/content/the_project/
http://www.scottishfootballmuseum.org.uk/quicklinks/news/hibs-hero-lawrie-reilly-launches-a-new-initiative-in-the-football-reminiscence-project.html

The association would like to hear from supporters who have family members dealing with Dementia who may benefit from this scheme.

Player Inductions
Working Together has developed a plan, currently in discussion to run player inductions at the start of the new season. The HHT have pledged their support as have the Former Players Association. To take the form of a half day including tour, film of historic games, share experiences with past players and mingle with supporters. Detailed plans to be discussed with Terry and his team at end of season.

Pat Stanton 7- 0
Stanton Branch will work closely with the Association to present an evening of ‘Quiet Man’ celebration at the Hibs club in the autumn

Golf
The HFPA organise golf outings. Following a suggestion about a charity ‘pro-am’ one volunteer put himself forward to look into the idea

HWT Inclusion Project – Special guest Lorraine Grady of MCFB (Leith)

Background
As part of her volunteer work sourcing good causes as recipients of Hibs season tickets, Susan Linn of Leith Links became aware of the fantastic work of Leith Multi-Cultural Family Base (See link below):-

http://www.mcfb.org.uk/football.html

Susan has introduced Lorraine Grady to Working Together with a view to adding capability and support and exploring the possibility of partnership with Hibernian FC and the Hibernian Community Foundation.

MCFB Football Initiative
It’s clear that there aren’t enough children and young people from our black and minority ethnic (BME) communities participating in football. Yet studies show that encouraging all children and young people to participate in football helps in developing resilience, creating a sense of belonging, promoting social values and developing more positive identities.

MCFB has launched a free scheme with the support of the SFA youth development coach to provide football sessions open to all BME children and young people from Edinburgh. The children and young people will have the opportunity to learn the skills of the game from expert coaches and we will be giving participants the opportunity to meet children and young people from other established clubs.

Volunteers wanted
Lorraine is looking to recruit volunteers for this project – you don’t need to know about football!! If you are interested in becoming a volunteer with this initiative please contact Lorraine via the contact details on the website or Franck Suzy on Bounce or Hibs.Net. A recent appeal to Hibs Supporters has sourced 5 volunteer mentors to take kids to games when they use their Leith Links-funded season tickets. More volunteers still required.

Sponsors
Fellow Hibby Mark Porteous of Porteous Funeral Directors has stepped in as an MCFB sponsor – well played Mark. This initiative has a lot in common with the immigrant roots of Hibernian Football club and should strike a chord with supporters.

Leith Festival 2014
MCFB and Leith Links will be sharing a stall (also sponsored my Mark) at the Gala Day on 14th June

Other initiatives - HWT
MCFB are forging links with other bodies including Supporters Direct Scotland. A group of HWT volunteers are presently working with Lorraine to research similar projects elsewhere. Douglas Roxburgh (HSA) is using his contacts with Manchester City to investigate their ‘City in the Community’ project with a view to applying some of their ideas this model to Hibernian FC and MCFB.

Suzy - amendments/corrections particularly welcome here

No biggy but there was no rep. from Leith Links there  One question, how did the proposal for quarterly meetings with the board go down? From those I've spoken to (who all attend regularly), the general feeling is that this proposal is not really going to give the groups much time to feedback sufficiently, as other matters will also need to be discussed at these meetings. Also, related to the question, if only the groups are meeting monthly, how can we be expected to progress issues/projects if no-one from the club is there to agree/veto/provide approval?

HWT Big Issues Project - James Belton / Eric Annal

Supporters Direct Scotland – Changing fixture dates/times
Following the excellent responses to last years survey of Hibs supporters under the HWT Green Views, the working group have been in contact with Andrew Jenkin at Supporters Direct Scotland. The SDS national survey across Scottish Clubs attracted over 1,300 responses and these will be discussed during the workshop planned as part of the SDA National Conference at Stirling University on Sunday 15th June.

Some HWT delegates will be attending. Other Hibbies interested can book tickets (priced reasonably at £10.00) by following the attached link:-

HWT meeting structure in 2014/2015
We are aware of the availability constraints upon management and also the regular commitments of group delegates. Moving forward, full meetings of Working Together will now be held quarterly every second Wednesday in the months of September, December, March and June of each football season calendar. These formal meetings will be held in Easter Road Stadium, boardroom or equivalent space and all organisations within the Hibernian Family will be represented.

Working Groups
Project teams will aim to work closely with partner groups, club and community foundation management to deliver projects of real benefit to Hibernian FC, supporters and the community during the season ahead. Many of these will start with research and investigation and it is likely that some will be kept under wraps until such time as they are ready to launch. Your patience would be appreciated in these cases.

End of Season Review
We have written to management with a view to hold the next meeting on Wednesday 11th June at 6.30 pm to act as an End of Season Review with group delegates, chairman, board, management team and Terry Butcher. Over the next four weeks group delegates should obtain feedback from their constituencies and members to collect questions to be put to chairman, board, management and football coaching team on 11th June. These questions will be collated at a group meeting at the Hibs Club on 14 May and submitted to management a minimum of two weeks in advance of the End of Season Review.

Look back – and looking forward
We also propose that the Review should include reports from Hibernian Family groups celebrating the significant achievements delivered off the park over the course of the 13/14 season. We also request that the board and football management team use this opportunity to set out their Aims, Goals and Targets for the season ahead (and beyond) with a view to re-uniting Hibernian Football Club behind a common vision.

Through Thick and Thin

Regardless of the position we find ourselves in we are Hibs supporters through thick and thin. We are sure that every Hibs supporter will do what they can during the next few weeks to fight to keep Hibernian FC in the Scottish Premiership. The meeting asked the chair to write directly to management with the following proposals:-

1. Free Coach travel to away games.
Terry Butcher and the team need a huge army of Hibs fans to travel to these two matches. The Ross County Board are sponsoring free coach travel for their next away game against Hearts. We are asking the Hibernian FC Board if they will perform the same service for those Hibernian fans considering travelling to Paisley on 19 April and Dingwall on 6th May.

This can be organised directly with the Hibs Supporters Association and other constituted branches. This sponsorship would provide a magnificent example of working together for the future of Hibernian FC and bring much needed unity to our club at a time of adversity.

2. Season Ticket Holder Incentives
Would you also consider a deal for those loyal supporters who have renewed to gain access to an extra ticket to bring an additional Hibby to home games between now and the end of the season? That way rather than see the team play to a half empty stadium, we can really pack those stands and help lift our boys in green and white.

<Authors note.
Management acknowledged our letter to say they would announce a series of initiatives designed to increase crowd numbers for these games.>

http://www.hibernianfc.co.uk/news/20140418/latest-ticket-initiative-announced_2262950_3774162

Letter to the team
The chair also wrote to management with a rallying call for Terry and the team letting them know that provided they give their all for the club and supporters, they will have our vociferous support during the remaining five matches.

Just to add the attendees were keen to stress that they only speak for themselves. No-one has a mandate on behalf of you - either you as individuals or as the whole support.

The aim is that by getting all the family groups together it will at least be able to take the pulse of the wider support.

Hope that makes sense.

WT members are also in contact with the Rugby Football League to learn about their long-established 'Equity and Diversity' programme. There is funding available, from the SFA, for a full-time E & D employee and we hope to present a business case to Hibs re this important role soon.

From those I've spoken to (who all attend regularly), the general feeling is that this proposal is not really going to give the groups much time to feedback sufficiently, as other matters will also need to be discussed at these meetings.

The intention is a 'Groups Highlights' section focusing on achievemements rather than work in progress. The main focus of the June meeting is the review of the season by the chairman and manager with questions from supporters groups articulated by their delegates

Also, related to the question, if only the groups are meeting monthly, how can we be expected to progress issues/projects if no-one from the club is there to agree/veto/provide approval?

Operational managers (e.g. Russell, Garry, Andrew, Kris) will attend on a needs basis. So for example if your Inclusion project involves Garry or Kris, you will work directly with them in between monthly meetings. If you need them for a meeting at the Hibs Club you should invite them. That way we are more economical with their time rather than every manager having to pitch up to every 2 hour meeting.

I guess we can suck it and see and review in a few months?

Thanks for the replies. There's some good stuff going on. I did think my ears were hot but I put that down to running about too much at work

Sorry if this appears cynical but it seems, IMHO, that the onus is back on us, the fans, again. So, in my own time and completely off my own back, I've to decide if I want someone from Hibs to come along to a meeting about their employer AND I've to ask them? Or am I missing something here?

I've a full-time job and do this in my spare time and yet, with very few exceptions, I manage along to ALL of the meetings. They are paid by the club and yet they don't have to attend? Surely they could operate on a rota system and whoever is present could feed back to the other department managers what they need to know? As for requesting the presence of some of them, well one in particular, that is a laugh. You don't even get the courtesy of a reply......

Do the initiatives currently ongoing have completion targets or are they rolling?
Do we have the support in the group to start a new initiative(given your comments in bold re lack of Bandwidth), or is this the one from 2013?

When projects are kicked off with volunteer resource it's hard to pin fowk for a date. In the office I get away with that when the team are full time and salaried. Not so easy when it's supporters doing stuff in their personal time.

The proposal in question was a really major one from 2013 parked by the board. Apparently they have discussed how to kick it off and are looking to reform the original team. It's not for me to say more but if it goes ahead we will definitely have the volunteers to support it.

You will receive an invite in due course Ronnie :-)

Think you have picked me up wrong. There's only four managers that we need. It's my role when putting together the agenda to let them know when their contribution can be most effective. There's two ways that can happen. Either you invite them or I do. It really is that simple.

The guys have young families. They work 6 or 7 days. Some days they work more than 12 hours. So in cutting them some slack when they are clearly not required we can hopefully obtain a greater contribution to our working groups BETWEEN monthly meetings. Less talking and more doing.

It's about using management support more efficiently. Hope that's a bit clearer. GGTTH

The one you mention has been on holiday but I spoke to them before they went off and they are looking forward to meeting up soon. I've passed on a contact number for your group.

I get what you are saying Gogs and this is not a go at you personally BUT it's 'Working Together' not 'We're Doing All The Work and You Come In At The End' is it not? What has changed? Certain members of club management has been ever-present at the meetings and others never-present. Re their workload, whilst that is a hard shift and there's no denying their workload, it is no more difficult than those of us who work full-time, have families and various other commitments AND volunteer for WT. It's their JOB. It is not my job or yours or any of the other volunteers YET we manage along, we pitch ideas, we take the initiative, we report back every single month OR we arrange cover if we are unable to be there.

I don't think it's too much to ask for a representative from the club to be present at the meetings, to be honest. As for 'less talking and more doing', is that not we, the volunteers, have been doing, all along?

The one in question has been contacted previously and nada. I tried again. Zilch. Here's hoping the chosen person has more luck.....
