Sorry to see he had died at 65 after a long illness. Good servant to Dundee Utd over the years.

Yes sad indeed, might be worth checking out YouTube to see if the goal he scored against Anderlecht is there, one of the best strikes of a ball I have ever seen. If we had a left back now who was even half as good as Frank Kopel, we would be happy indeed

Was just talking to my boss - who's a United fan - about him on Monday and asked if he knew how he was doing. I saw him on Reporting Scotland a few months back and didn't recognise him. He looked in a very bad way. Sad news but at least he won't be suffering now.

Wonder if the heading of heavy balls (Jeff Astle scenario) had anything to do with his dementia?

I know Frank had little quality of life. He needed everything done for him. I wouldn't want that for me or any of my family.
I never meant him - but friends who have said he was a true gent.
RIP.

Very much so JB - and he had the most tremendous hairstyle in Scottish football at one point too :greengrin A quite bizarre frizz type thing which looked like a jesters hat when he ran.
Like you say a fine player.

Was it Frank who played with Man Utd the year they won the European Cup?

Don't know if he played but he was with them around that time. Probably too early in his career.
