The Scotsman reported on Wednesday that Mr Romanov, 67, had been arrested in Moscow (http://www.scotsman.com/news/scotland/top-stories/ex-hearts-chief-vladimir-romanov-arrested-in-russia-1-3368884) on Monday before being released, sparking fury in his adopted homeland of Lithuania and prompting the country’s president, Dalia Grybauskaitė, to accuse Russia of flouting international law.
But Mr Romanov’s lawyer, Adomas Liutvinskas, confirmed last night that the tycoon was due to appear in court today, and that he was under armed guard in a hospital in the Russian capital.
And he claimed the former Tynecastle chief had been taken to hospital after suffering health problems relating to an underlying heart condition as a result of his arrest on Monday.
Mr Romanov is being held in Moscow over a Lithuanian-issued demand for his extradition over allegations he embezzled over £12 million during his time as the chief of Ukio Bankas. Although Mr Liutvinskas confirmed that a court appearance had been set for today, he had admitted to some confusion surrounding Monday’s events, telling Lithuanian media earlier this week that it was ‘unclear’ what had happened because he wasn’t in Moscow at the time.
The lawyer said that his client was ‘already feeling better’, and confirmed that he would be opposing Mr Romanov’s extradition to Romania as well as any bid to keep him in custody while the case is being considered.
Mr Liutvinskas added: “First a decision on whether or not to detain him will be made - and then on his extradition.”

And so it begins,

Why would Romania try to extradite him?

And This criminal is someone that the Majority of Jambos are still hailing as some sort of hero!!

£12 million is probably just a fraction of what he STOLE!!

But in Yams eyes £12 million embezzlement is insignificant whereas if your a pro footballer caught singing songs in a pub with your pals on your day off, they want the Death Penalty brought back and would have you hung!!

I actually cannot believe, that after absolutely running there club into the ground then basically stamping on it then doing a runner to leave them to die without as much as a goodbye, they continue to hail Romanov as some sort of King.

Course they are. Their recent history is riddled with sex offending, charity thieving and robbing local businesses.

Their sole ambition now is to be able to gloat at getting away with very little punishment should they exit admin having paid a pittance to change ownership, bump tens of millions and hoping for a season or two in the lower division.

The Yams are fuds, and people that sing that song are fuds. The stupid behaviour of one set of football supporters doesn't excuse the stupid behaviour of another.

'And he claimed the former Tynecastle chief had been taken to hospital after suffering health problems relating to an underlying heart condition'

You could accuse Vlad of a lot if things but 'Wasting time' certainly isn't one if them - I thought he would've let the dust settle then his people would announce a 'Stroke' and that he was at an undisclosed health-clinic, unable to answer any questions !

 Don't see anyone making excuses for anybody here, just a comparison of the different reactions of one set of supporters to two different situations.

Surely the yam will be writing to the Russian ambassador to protest? They will want to do their own guard of honour just like the Corleone family did when the Don was in hospital.

A mix of gap toothed youths in the reversible shell suit jacket and bloated purple faced Russian hat kickers with their knitted maroon twirlers tied round their wrists should be enough to ensure adequate protection of their sweet prince just so the protracted trial gets to go ahead.

And so it begins,

Can The Scotsman please get a quote from Lord Fattie Foulkes on this news please, or is his lordship nowhere to be found and keeping his head down? "Mr Romanov" as he used to pathetically refer to Vlad. Pass the sick bag.

Foulkesy's ok. He was against Mercer's moves back in the dark days of 1991.
