I've just been told that Hearts are disbanding their U20 team due to lack off cash.

Poor news for our Yam friends.

Hopefully the young lads will find better clubs to play for.

Is this with immediate effect?
Sad news for the young lads involved

A real wee shame for THEM but what an opportunity for US.

We absolutely should be asking any players we are interested in along to Easter road.
Can't be long before they ditch Riccarton. £330k a year is a lot for training only the first team.

Very sorry to read that for the players sakes but we should be considering them.

In addition, I wonder if this is the next piece of bad news for the Yams.

When will this take effect? Surely that's the first team being disbanded then according to the dross we've been reading for months. The cruelty being heaped on these laddies by being asked to play football each week means this was the only humane decision! :greengrin

Was Riccarton not one of the debts that they hadn't paid?

They have up until now ran a big youth set up which has carried on as normal throughout. Wonder if this is going as well?

They pay it now, BDO would not have it any other way.
It £330k a year rent.

My understanding is this will be at the end of this season so May/June time.

I think their new re-negotiated rent in some respect includes a payment retrospectively for the cash they stole from them.

As an aside, rumours around that the under 20 league will cease anyway next season. Possibly moving to an under 19 and Reserve League. Maybe in anticipation of this?

Thats not possible I'm afraid. Just to save CWG telling you!

So if true what will parents of kids in their Academy be thinking about a pathway to the Hearts first team?
If it were my son time to bail.
Why would you have your kid playing for a Club that they drop off a cliff when they get about 16/17.

Definitely no Reserve League next season unfortunately. Don't know about U20s though.

Word in the street is that Chelsea and Real Madrid will be announcing similar in the near future.

Shutting down your youth team is what all Big Teams do.

Where did you hear that if you don't mind me asking.
There must be talk in the background somewhere about it, i heard TB say 'if' we go to a reserve league next season in an interview recently.

Told by someone within Hibs management, sorry don't want to name names. Hibs were in favour of re-instating it.

Cheers, I think the EOS league is a good substitute for a reserve league if we're not getting one back.

I'm sure this was in the news in the last few weeks too, think I read Mark Wotte saying he was pleased that the SPFL clubs agreed with him and stuck with the U20 league.

Fair enough if you say so but I'm sure I read that HWU had agreed a rearranged rent with HOMFC. I'd be surprised if they had offered them a new deal at the same or lower rate. More fool them, and, if they did, I hope they get their fingers burned again.
