Cheers for this SAM. Good read. Some unusual traits to get the best out his teams but if it gives some of the players a little bit extra belief then that's great.

As an aside, I caught 5 mins of Colin Murray's show on TalkSport yesterday. He was asking the panel their greatest ever UK sportsman, born outwith the UK. I was expecting Froome, Wiggins, Farah etc but the first lad spoke at length about TB and reckoned he was no1. Having him here will def help keep Hibs in the media.

“My old chairman at Inverness reckoned the only club I’d have left Caley Thistle for would have been Ipswich Town. They’re dear to me, it’s true, but maybe in a Scottish sense you’d have factored in Rangers as well, for obvious reasons. When the Hibs job came up, though, I just went: ‘Wow.’ I always looked at them and thought they only needed the right person to get them going because everything else was in place.”

He's a Tory? Butcher out. Just kidding, good read and seems to be able to get inside the head of his players to give them the edge.

So he's going to sevco when they get to the SPFL or whatever it's called now- if he can make us top 2 and win the Scottish cup first that would do for now - I like his style

If he wins the Scottish cup, I'd even forgive him that. In fact I'd be happier than when Thatcher died.

Good interview - Aiden Smith getting more and more patronising but still a decent piece.

...who would have thought that Former England Captain and Rangers Centre Half Terry Butcher would be a unionist and a Tory?? You just can rely on anything these days ..

Who cares about principles as long as we are winning !

I don't think anyone's bringing principles into question.

Speaking as a pro-independence socialist, I couldn't give a toss about our manager's political views. :aok:

I hate these type of articles. You read them and think 'yes', we've got the right man in now. Then you remember all the other articles which sounded the exact same tone about all the previous incumbents.
I'm saving my judgement for what happens on the pitch from now on. Results come first.
So far it's a C.

I like him even more now. He's come to Scotland, travelled on a journey from Greyskull to Hibs, and he believes in Scotland as part of the family of the UK. Just got to get his politics sorted next......

As others have said, win us the Scottish Cup and I'll forgive him anything!

Every time I see or read an interview with butcher I always get the feeling that everything's going to be alright.

He's certainly an interesting character and very articulate but, as mentioned above, that will mean nothing unless there is a more than significant upturn in our fortunes over the next three years. IMHO there's more chance of that happening than not. I was interested to read that we share the same favourite artist. :cool2:

He is right about Turner...I saw the Turner and the Sea exhibition at Greenwich last Sunday and it was stunning.
