Looking at the season as a whole rather than the post-Fenlon period it is extremely difficult to pick a 'player of the year so far'. I'd have to go with Hanlon and Stevenson a close second but neither have been consistent throughout the season.

Think that's my position as well but agree Hanlon has improved when playing with Nelson and Stevenson has had some good games eg Kilmarnock when whole stadium was delighted he scored but then a few weeks later at left back st mirren took him to the cleaners .For effort you can't beat Collins .

I don't think anybody has consistently played well this season. They've all made major mistakes in games. 28pts in 24 games = ouch!

Thought it was Hanlon before he went out injured. Now I am sure it is Hanlon. Collins is growing on me but I still don't think he will be a 15-20 goal a year man even with good service. Stevenson has been excellent considering the variety of positions he has played in. Robertson has faded a it after probably being one of the best for the first couple of months.

Tough one as don't think anyone has been consistently outstanding, in fact I don't think anyone has ever had an outstanding game though a few players have had their moments so you then start to look and see who has consistently avoided poor games. For me that is Paul Hanlon. Can't think of a time this season I have thought "he was poor today" or that "goal was his fault".

Come on they've all had there moments this season that's why we have 28points in 24 games and dumped out the cup by the worst team in the SPL.

Having their 'moments' is a hardly making costly errors though is it? Can you detail these costly errors?

For starters.
1. Collins gave pen away against ICT at ER
2. Stevenson 2 goals v Aberdeen at ER
3. Nelson v St Mirren at ER
4. Cummings open goal miss v Partick plus not scored a 1st team goal
5. Williams display v Celtic at ER
6. Maybury pen v Celtic
7. Harris not closing down v Aberdeen a few weeks ago
8. Liam Craig's 1 on 1 with Hearts in league cup

There's a few for starters of the top of my head mate and that's just in recent games

All players make mistakes. That's how most goals come about.

You've made your point well. I just get fed up with generalisations about poor play. We've won some good games this season, by playing decent football and by opponents making mistakes

Onwards and upwards

Would you say that, and sorry to generalise here, generally we have been poor more than good and this is reflected in our current standing in the table. 7th (which means there are more teams in the league better than us than not), not even that close to the teams in 5th and 6th one of whom has a game in hand on us, W7 D7 L10.

We still have time to make something of this season though. Top 6 is achievable and with the right draw, at least the semis of the Scottish.

Robertson or Hanlon thus far. Liking the threat of Sam Stanton for the rest of the season. It's great Butcher has moved things to where we are deciding who our best player is rather than our worst. :greengrin
