Genuinely stunned and gutted by this - one of my favourite actors. His Oscar winning performance in Capote was spectacular, as was his performance in Doubt, which was also nominated.

Drug overdose too. What a tragic waste.

Why does it always seem to be drugs? You would think that with the money and opportunities actors and singers have they would have so many more things to occupy themselves.

I did enjoy Doubt, both Hoffman and Streep were superb in that.

He really immersed himself in every role. I think he didn't like himself very much though.

I think the point is that as you'll probably know Leith has not had its problems to seek wrt drugs - even yogis brother succumbed iirc. So the comment is a little crass. What's at the heart of any addiction? There's usually something. All too easy to judge and I don't exclude myself from that. They're all someone's daughter, son, father, mother.

Even if you think this, I can't imagine why you would ever feel the need to share it on a public forum when you don't know who will be reading.
