Anyone got a recipe for it? Can't get it out here.

I'm certain it is just brown sauce diluted with vinegar. Thing of beauty so it is :drool:

My partner used to work in a chippy years ago. She says it is brown sauce mixed with water

The ingredients are:
Water
Wheatflour
Acetic Acid
Salt
Thickener - Modified Maize Starch
Colour - Caramel E150
Spice Extracts - Ginger/Clove/Cayenne/Pimento/Cinnamon/Coriander
Garlic Extract
Onion Extract
Sweetener - Sodium Saccharin
Gold star brown sauce tastes exactly like chippy sauce. I don't know if anyone would deliver it to Spain though.

My brother and family live down south. Whenever they visit they make sure to buy several bottles from the chippy before they set off home :greengrin

It's just watered down brown sauce.

Yep - brown sauce, vinegar (I use malt) and water. Not much to it :greengrin

That stuffs the damage. Used to buy it from the tail end but not seen it for a while

most chippies use gold star as there sauce, worked in chippies on and off for years. and the ones I've worked in owned by the same family always just mix gold star and water 50/50 but i think 60 sauce / 40 water is better.

The only brown sauce I use is HP, salt & vinegar on a chippy every time. As for that watered down oil slick in chippy's here :sick:

Which ones? I've been a bit disappointed after no finding it in tesco in leith and asda at the jewel
