We've sang it at every away game in Glasgow for a while. It works at winding them up. Not sure why this has suddenly become an issue.

I agree. Singing it to Rangers is fine, but to Celtic is just plain embarrassing!

It was ironic and funny when sung at Ibrox after beating them.
Why not sing the Sash etc if you want to copy the Huns by celebrating Protestant supremacy.

Cringeworthy.

Think I might belt out Derrys Walls against them next time we are at Celtic Park or Rifles of the IRA at Ibrox.

Will wind them right up.

It was funny and clever when we sang it at Ibrox when pumping Rangers. Against Celtic it's just utter stupidity.

To sing "we are the people" literally as Hibs fans without any of this religious drivel is to sing "Hibs fans are the best" essentially. You can't take Derry walls literally and derive a different meaning from the lyrics.

That is why Hibs fans sing it against Celtic and rangers. If you get upset you are buying into this weird sectarian mindset which is totally irrelevant when you follow Hibs.

It is irony to sing it literally against clubs who froth at the mouth about the nonsense meanings behind it. Who cares what they think it means. It's not about "Protestant supremacy". It's about poking fun at their sectarian way of thinking.

We Are The People is a Loyalist slogan.

You can dress it up how you like about it meaning 'Hibs are the best' but it has it's roots in Northern Irish unionist communities. The original cry was 'We are A people' and was a cry from a Unionist politician for British Protsatants to be seen as a distinct people from Irish Catholics. That's not a 'weird sectarian way of thinking', it's a fact.

Do you think Hibs fans are singing it with the intention of communicating its original intent. Obviously not. Do you get confused when rappers use the n-word? There is a subtle subtext to controversial slogans/words given their context.

I have absolutely no idea why Hibs fans sing it against Celtic. The rapper point is ridiculous.

Pretty much sums things up.

The youngsters singing ill advised and cringeworthy nonsense like this do sometimes need to be steered in the right direction - St Pauli chant for instance.

As for the excuse "it winds them up", so would shouting fenian *******s at them so should we do that anaw.

Sung by daft laddies who don't know any better, as was "hullo hullo we are the Hibees boys" back in the 70s.

To me when Hibs sing it against The Rangers or Celtic its quality, but only when winning. Oh cares that its associated with **** in this country, its quality and showing how much we think of Celtic and Rangers pathetic sectarian drivel.

I think singing it against the old Rangers (RIP) at Ibrox was quality as it wound them up.

Singing it against Celtic is a bit pointless, especially when we're losing.

Singing it against Celtic is provocative. End of discussion.

It's been demonstrated, even on this thread, that people don't have the first clue.
