"..we've made enquiries, of course, but certain players are not available."

(It's only on the full interview that needs subscription!)

Who must he be referring to? ;)

Although it must be said that it doesn't immediately sound like good news at all, I'm posting this as we all know that at this time of year, a football club's circumstances can be altered at the drop of a hat, meaning there may be a chance of bringing certain players to Easter Road after all.

As the old saying goes - 'you need to be in it to win it'.

He's quoted today as saying he 's paid out about £8000 in total in transfer fees in his time as a manager - £3000 at Motherwell to get Meldrum the goalie released form his contract and £5000 at ICT for some guy Vincent.

He also says that better business gets done in the last week or so of the window - players come available once the bigger clubs in England have done their own transfer deals.

Let's just wait and see - he did OK at Fir Park and the Caledonian.

Ah well. At least TB knows exactly what he's getting if he does come.

Last Vincent to play for us was Stan, way back - a centre-forward who was a useful player but had the misfortune to come in just after Joe Baker went to Italy. (Imagine being judged in comparison to the Baker Boy.)

Moved on to Falkirk IIRC.

Stan was a good lad and unlucky as you say Doddie. In no way a fair comparison but him arriving on the scene post Baker is like James Collins arriving on the scene post Griffiths :greengrin
