I got given an old copy of the Daily Mail's Football Guide for the 53-54 season that had a review of the English and Scottish 52-53 seasons. In there was a list of the top scorers for Scotland, with Reilly top, but you forget how good that Hibs team were, as all four of the other famous 5 are in the top scorers chart as well.

Looking at the excellent iHibs stats resource confirms what a glorious period that was:

147 goals scored in all competitions (48 games in total)
conceded 74, averages of 3.0625 and 1.542
scored 5 goals 4 times
scored 6 goals twice
scored 7 goals 5 times
scored 8 goals once

Reilly with 46 goals was followed by Ned on 25, Johnstone (23), Smith (20), Ormond (18), Combe (12), with Souness (Jimmy), Clark and Buchanan all scoring one each.

Absolutely amazing, even more so that we lost out in the league on goal average on the last day to a now defunct team from Glasgow that play in blue.
