One of the stars of one of the greatest comedies there has ever been or ever will be.
His portrayal of Trigger in Only Fools and Horses was brilliant and I'm sure he'll remain on TV for many years to come.
Really sorry to hear about this.

R.I.P. Trigger
always thought one of the best bits was when he said that he had had that broom for fifteen years,
although it had its head replaced 6 times and the shaft had been replaced 4 times,[approx]

Grew up watching Only Fools and Horses. The punch lines he delivered were hysterical!! On the naming of Rodney's baby...... "If it's a boy they're gonna call it Rodney... after Dave."
makes me smile.

Del Boy - Tell us the truth. Are the police looking for these things, Trig?
Trigger - Nah they're not, Del. And that's the truth.
Rodney - Why are you hiding it under the table then?
Trigger - Well 'cos you never know when they're gonna start looking for them, do ya?

RIP, I loved his character, you always knew what he was going to say when Rodney walked in the room but I still laughed every time.

I seem to remember John Sullivan saying a few years ago, something along the lines of, that you could write down all of Trigger's scripts on two sides of A4 paper but that every single one of the things he says has you in stitches.
Can't disagree with that at all.
'How long you had that brush now Trig?'
'Twelve years Del but it's had 7 new handles and 10 new heads'.

very sad day
he was a talanted actor of course not only *only fools* but the vicar of dibleyas wel(as well as others im sure!)l where he also was pretty .
I remember thinking if you saw trigger you KNEW you just knew he was gonna make you laugh.
One of my fav scenes of him was when trigger ,uncle albert and rodney were talking in the cafe and albert was talking about the war(one of those during the war moments) and well something happening with a whale and trigger and albert were saying its like your worst nightmare and rodney says soemthing like no my worst nightmares talking to you 2" and trigger agrees classic moment me thinks!

Originally he wasnae even meant to be in that scene, but, turned up on the day and said if you can use me I'm up for it. Pretty much turned out to be the most well known moment of the show.

I would go a step further and say it's one of the most well known moments in the history of British television.
The vacant expression on his face as he turns around to find that Del was no longer standing next to him and then continues to turn a full 360 degrees before Del stands up again and then he looks shocked to see him is just genius.

Mike: So?
Trigger: What?
Mike: What name have they decided on?
Trigger: If it's a girl they're calling it Sigourney after an actress, and if it's a boy they're naming him Rodney after Dave!

Always cracks me up. RIP

Yep, I'm laughing my head off reading some of his lines on here. A great comedy actor - his gags really caught you off guard.

Just watching an episode of Only Fools on GOLD just now! Absolutely brilliant.
Trigger - "You knew my Grandad, Arthur, didn't you Mr Trotter?"
Grandad - "Yeah, I knew Arthur alright."
Trigger - "He was a smashing man. He took care of me when my mum went."
Rodney - "Where was your dad?"
Trigger - "He died a couple of years before I was born."
:faf:
Later on in the same episode.
Trigger on the prospect of going away on holiday;
Trigger - "I'm going to live it up a bit. Discos, nightclubs, golden beaches, blue skies."
Rodney - "Oh sounds great Trig. Where are you going?"
Trigger - "Ireland."

The missus is back in Scotland, so last night I treated myself to series 1 of OFAH, as I have them all on DVD but haven't really watched them in ages.
That 1st season is just rammed full of classic lines from all the characters, which is incredible because I kind of have it in my head that - especially for a comedy sitcom - it takes a season or 2 for it to really get going, but the writing in OAFH is excellent.
Football training then season 2 and 3 tonight methinks
great actor who i will never tire of watching repeats of only fools
