Awful news. I remember him most for his performances in the 87 UEFA Cup, particularly an injury time goal in Moenchengladbach.

Very sad. Heard him guest on Off The Ball only a week or two ago and he sounded well.
Did not appreciate that he was deaf in one ear and lived with that all during his playing career.

That is sad. A player I always liked. He was brilliant in that United team.

Seems to say he was found in a wooded area.

Former Rangers and Dundee Utd midfielder Ian Redford has died at the age of 53.Police tell Clyde News they were called to a wooded area near to Long Drive in Irvine around 1115 on Friday where they recovered a man's body.He was a Scottish record for a £210,000 deal when he moved from Dundee to Rangers in the 1980's. ...

Not that it matters where. Sad news.

I liked him as a player. I know he did not want to go to Rangers and wanted to go south.

RIP.

Terrible news. Just texted a Utd mate of mine. Although had early career at Dundee and Rangers, it was at Utd he played his best football. Whatever McLean may have been he could spot talent.

He scored the winner for Rangers in a League Cup final. It was not a very successful era for Rangers that he played in.

I remember him mainly as a young Dundee player. Left sided.

Tragic news. He was a cultured player who always came across as an intelligent guy with a few more brain cells than your average footballer.

To be honest I'd forgotten about Redford but having just finished reading the Erich Schaedler biography his name cropped up a few times as he played as a youngster in the same Dundee team.

Some ****ing fud on wikipedia has cut down his career to:

Career Redford began his career at Pebble Rovers.[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Ian_Redford&diff=next&oldid=590228208#cite_note-1)
