This is a big part of the reason that I'm sceptical too, but unlike you, I just assumed the story was made up for those same purposes.

I hadn't considered that it could be someone taking delight in breaking real, but disappointing news. I concede it could be, although the paraphernalia surrounding the story doesn't ring true to me.

Of course, there's the possibility that the poster, and the information, are genuine.

Wages weren't an issue at the end of last season when he had his heart set on joining Hibs full time, so I don't see why it should be now. If we put a bid in and Celtic do too, and he chooses us then surely that's that? The only barrier is Wolves would want more money which Celtic could afford and we couldn't.

Truth is - I don't know in terms of the up front fee. It seems to be accepted that £200k was the figure it could rise to, so why wouldn't Rod have offered that if Collins was plan b (which he most certainly was) in instalments or otherwise?
