Great video, good to hear Sauzee and co at the start, they knew what Derbys are all about and I hope Butcher can make the current squad realise this aswell! GGTTH

Grew up in a very crazy hearts family on both sides and never got on with one half. So derby day is me vs them, means a lot to me.

Cant handle losing as the banter flows to say the least.

It's a game that I never take for granted and never make outlandish claims about how many goals we will win by. Got enough egg on face to make an omelette that would stretch the length of Leith Walk.

For me it's more than just a game, it's a chance to get one over your greatest rivals and a chance to prove that we are the pride of Edinburgh, I'm nervous as hell, always am before a derby, they're at an all time low in terms of morale, but they always seem to raise their game just for the derby. Last time out was a soul crusher in terms of defeat having had so many chances to score before they did, McDonald had a blinder that day, hope he has a mare this time round.

GGTTH & Come On Butcher's Boys!

Still (despite our woeful record) the games I look forward to more than any other, no better feeling than beating Hearts even though it doesn't happen often enough.

Hope we don't find a way to mess this up tonight as I'll be gutted if we cannot win this game comfortably.

I remember when there were few derbies in the 80's when Hibs & Hearts were relegated and they were missed. Happy to see Hearts in the state they are in and paying for their years of over spending but will miss these games big time and there will be a loss of income to the club in terms of gate & TV money.

Nothing compares to the feeling of beating Hearts. However of the 27 derbies I've been to, I've seen us win 4. :bitchy:

There has never been a greater chance to add to that tally.

Dislike the derbies; I went through school in the 22 in a row stuff, the hatred they have for us, astounds me. It's not rivalry, it's vile hatred. They disgust me.
And well, the 20 odd years of them overspending and cheating, has meant the past games for me mean bugger all.
They are a horrible, scabby club with the worse fans in the world.

Thankfully they'll be gone for at least 2 years, but I hope, the big L and forever.

I can understand the older fans when things were more on a level playing field in bygone days.
But the 'modern' times and their fans, shudder.

Since the Yams were promoted and the derby resumed in 1983, the derby represents quite a lot of emotional and physical pain.

I was at the first derby in four years at Tynecastle in 1983, Hearts being just promoted, and Hibs were marginal favourites. We were ahead 1-0 and 2-1 but contrived to lose the match 3-2. I went with some mates and we were jumped and beaten up after the match by Hearts Skinheads.

This pattern was pretty much followed for the next couple of years until I'd had enough and decided to fight back. Along with some guys from the Artisan Branch, we decided to get them before they got us. Instead of getting beaten up, we attacked the Hearts Skinheads (alongside a mixture of ordinary fans and casuals) and I got lifted instead. I suppose it made a change.

Mostly since then it as been emotional pain, as that 3-2 has seemed to come back to haunt us at regualr intervals, with scores that have often felt like having your guts torn out.

I demand better!!

A Derby win is the utopia of following Hibernian.
