The extra £70m of spending has bought the Yams an extra 30 points over us. We should make up about 15 of that by the end of the season and move about 30 ahead of them next season.
They do have 2 trophies to our one though. Hopefully we can put that right this season as well. ;-)

That doesn't explain why they are skint yet have beaten us twice this season though - does it?

Try looking at their home record over that same period and you will find the answer. 92 wins as opposed to 70 for us. That's 66 points more over ten years yet they are only 33 ahead in total.

Hibs managers over recent years have sought to find the reason for our poor home form.

Maybe we need to look at what Hearts get right at Tynecastle? Is their support more loyal? More courageous? More supportive? Are the players more bonded with the fans? Is it all down to Scott Wilson? :greengrin

Surely it's too big a differential to just shrug off as one of these things

Their powers of persuasion are decent. They have you believing we've played an under 19 team!

Because while we waste our time trying to be fancy, they run up the pitch and score.

That table shows just how ineffectual Romanov was for them as an owner. The money they spent should have taken them way ahead of the teams with comparable crowds i.e us and Aberdeen. It actually only bought them a couple of extra wins per season.

Motherwell come out as the great achievers of the past decade given their relatively small crowds. They must be furthest ahead of the position that they'd have if the teams performed in strict income order.

To answer the Home form for us compared to theirs, I always found that Tynecastle was a fairly intimidating place (not just because its a ***** hole) the fans are right on top of the players and on a full capacity game It can drive the players on and make the other team Tam White themselves. Easter Road however isn't as frightening, take into account we're quicker to get on at our players rather than behind them it's no wonder opposition teams take points off us.

Also the team on the park makes a difference too and up till recently our team has been fairly poor.

THIS 100%

I've said it often enough... TB was quoted a while back saying that there's no "12th man" at ER and that Caley found it easier to play against us in Edinburgh than in Inverness.

maybe.... finally... the Hibs supporters will realise that shouting against yer team doesn't help them push forward?

might just be me though?

Shows how consistently well Motherwell have done. Also how poorly Hearts have given their £70m of other peoples money they spent over the decade.......

Motherwell have been a financial basket case of a club too.

To an extent, he was right Sir Alf. We'd all love to see three stands full of Hibs fans singing and shouting their support for ninety minutes but that ain't gonna happen. The South Stand, to a man, woman and child will be roaring their lungs out which will definitely gee their players up. We need as many fans as possible to get behind Hibs from the off.

BTW please don't anyone turn this post into an 'it's the fans fault' debate. What I've said is factual and not some attempt to shift blame
