I know this is the time of year a lot of folk buy new suites and the like so here's a wee warning.
I bought a new suite, delivered just before Christmas. Unusually I took out the insurance cause there's a lot of reclining bits and the insurance was sold on the basis any faults to that were covered along with the normal guff. The salesman took great pleasure in telling us how experienced he was and how much it could cost to repair a single mechanism so there's doubt he knew what he was doing.
We got the policy through the mail the other day. As usual with these things its looked as though the reclining bits were covered but it wasn't clear. So I phoned the insurance folk.
No, that kind of damage, accidental or otherwise, is not covered. Confirmed by the supervisor.
Getting a refund, within 30 days of delivery of the suite not of the insurance note, involves a trip back out to Sterling Warehouse and the best part of 2 weeks have already been lost.
At a time of year when folks heads are all over the place and being as busy as a really busy thing this is nothing more than a cynical ploy to deceive customers, a disgraceful way for any company to conduct business.
