View Full Version : Has Anyone Considered Tam McCourt For Manager?

My source tells me that Tam Mcourt has applied for the job.

All good managers need to start somewhere and he is known to be very popular with the playing staff.

He has sat in the dugout for 2 seasons now and, as I understand it, he was regarded with respect for his football knowledge. One of the better players, sorry, I can't expose him, has told me that he regards Tam as one of the most savvy football people he has worked with.

For me he has to be worth a punt. He would walk over hot coals for the club and he would cost the club next to nothing. What would be the harm in giving Tam the wheel till the end of the season? Could be one of the shrewdest moves for a long time.

I think it was sarcasm from the one accused of not seeing the joke

I've always rated Tam. he seems to have been by-passed regarding the manager's post on the last 3 occasions at least.he does somehow have the knack of getting into any important photos though, and for that he must be considered when Petrie flips through all the possibles.if he is sideshifted again, I think he must be in the frame for putting itchy pooder into the strips at least, thereby inducing a lot more effort from the players representing Hibernian, and making them uncomfortable if things go wrong. just my own slant on things, nothing more

A certainty imo. We could get one of the players to take his current position. Promote from within

I wonder how long it would be before people start to point out that the club has gone downhill ever since Tam arrived in the early 80s. He has managed to dodge the bullets while the likes of Waugh, Duff and Grey, Lex Gold, and Rod Petrie have been targets for the fans ire.

I sense a picket fence and magic bullet moment starting to unfold. Who is that blurry figure in the background?

How would Tam reconcile cliping to Petrie about the manager if he was holding down that position himself?

I guess it was only a matter of time before the obligatory Tam McCourt thread appeared. I do get the sarcasm here but must be said that Tam is an absolute gentleman and a total asset to Hibs. Only met the man once but in the worst week of my life a chance meeting with him and our chat was one of the things that got me through it.

I'd replace Petrie with him frankly!!:greengrin
