Just back.

On our 6 and a half hours journey our dwindling band of travellers from this neck of the woods were discussing what every other SPFL manager probably already knew, and this is what we came up with. Inverness probably don't even bother with a pre match discussion.

How to beat Hibs

1. Don’t worry if they have the ball in midfield, they will string together several passes across the area we leave for them before knocking it backwards - we will then receive the ball when it is lumped forward. Alternatively they will eventually play a slow pass or inaccurate cross forward and we can hit them at speed on the break – see 2. below.

2. When we have the ball we will be in a position to shoot in no more than 3 quick direct passes forward on the ground. Save energy by doing it the opposite of Hibs.

3. Press the fullbacks – they are both out of position and often playing in the wrong position.

4. Once we get our goal sit back and pick off their final ball in, it will increasingly become a desperate cross that we can clear and start a new 3 pass direct attack.

5. Keep an eye on their forwards, if you man mark them you will save energy and probably keep your kit clean.

6. Pay special attention to their throw – ins. It’s hard to get the ball in competitive matches so this is your best chance to get some easy possession.

You're spot on particularly with point 1. We usually receive a square pass with the recipient positioned sideways or facing our own goal. The player then has to adjust & make another square pass & so on. We need to pass the ball in front of players & they need to be braver in positioning themselves to go forward. We very rarely break beyond the opposition & as you say they can sit in all day!

It's okay, I think I got away with it as I don't think any outsiders are looking in and no one at ER will believe it :-)

As I suffer from a wave of disgust at everything this club has become over the last few years, this sums it up.

Amateur, top to bottom.

As I suffer from a wave of disgust at everything this club has become over the last few years, this sums it up.

Amateur, top to bottom.

I have watched Hibs home and away for 52 years from ER to Videoton and back again. I have to confess the whole matchday experience is horrible. All the way from the crap overpriced shop to the crap overpriced catering to the crap product on the park. In person i have argued for HFC and will until till i die, however the whole sense of embarrassment is becoming overwhelming. we seem to be a club full of schiesters from top to bottom. The fans seem to be the last consideration at our club. We seem to be full of players taking a wage and viewing the club as only this - a wage. There is no pride, no hurt, no sense of purpose within Easter Road. Many at the club seem to ready or to willing to accept mediocrity. Sadly i feel my club is in greater decline than the Merricks and this has to change. While I do not like to see people lose their job if they are not getting results in a results driven business well.....

I can recall over the years from 1960 up until Mowbray left when we had some great days and nights, recently though we have lurched from one bad day/night to another. John Collins departure from ER may have put the kybosh on us getting a good man in and the board then and now have a lot to answer to. Sorry Mr Fenlon, Mr Petrie, Mr Nicholl ( I expected more from you although to be fair you may be shackled somewhat) and those who woke up this morning and did not feel embarrassed or hurt at your performance last night it is time to go now.
