This (http://www.edinburghnews.scotsman.com/sport/football/hibs/exclusive-zoubir-reveals-secret-behind-skills-1-3148117) makes an interesting read. Zoubir telling of how his experience of 'Futsal' is behind his skill and style of play.

I think it would really help if this was introduced in Scotland, starting from Primary School level onwards.

Good article. Makes a change from the usual cut and paste job from the Club site.

Very interesting stuff. Basically kids teach each other skills. In spain they take the piss out of each other with passing control and movement. In scotland a crunching tackle and an elbow to the ribs does the job just as well.....

You could cut glass with those nipples in that photo! :greengrin

I've banged on about futsal to anyone who will listen for years now. It's a perfect game to develop touch and skill and because it can be played indoors it eliminates any weather problems.

It does seem that slowly Scottish football seems to be accepting that times have moved on and we can learn a thing or 2 from those pesky foreigners.

Me too, but nobody would ever listen. I had a spell teaching football to Primary age kids and boy that was hard work, because they were all used to the big kick up the field, even at 11 & 12 years old.

What it needs is for our esteemed 'leaders' in football to admit they've got it wrong and that this needs to be their priority from now on. However, they're too busy trying to save despicable organisations like (The) Rangers and going on paid for jaunts.

Plenty Futsal going on in scotland. Esp during the winter months. But i agree it would be good to get the kids playing it in schools rather than the crazy 4 a side in pisssing rain rubbish we have to put up with every week.

Speaking as a "pesky foreigner", I loved indoor soccer as a kid. I preferred it to the outdoor game. We would play on basketball courts during the winter. Indoor soccer is a good mix of outdoor football (soccer) and ice hockey.

I think football can learn something from hockey in the way that hockey players move the puck around inside the blue line looking for shots, particularly on power plays.

Advocate it to all the parents of the kids I coach. Luckily I happen to also coach Futsal so a double winner for me.

I fully believe it should be introduced at schools - all schools have a hall, not all schools have playing space.

It is also a ******* to play at adult level. Nearly killed me!

All it takes is volunteers guys. Go along to your local school and offer to run a futsal after school club. They will be very receptive.
Or you can just do the typical Scottish thing and moan on a message board about how stupid we are in comparison to those clever foreigners.

Agree about futsal, which is a pro sport here and followed by thousands of fans. There was a thread earlier this year (or late last year) which discussed this too and was really interesting.

Volunteers would be good, and I have done in the past, but what it really needs is an SFA level initiative to introduce this officially in schools.

The change to smaller pitches/teams made a few years back for Primary Schools is a good start but I think this should be considered the next step, for ALL youth age levels.

We do it in Shetland, one or two players could easily be playing for SPL teams but no scouts come up here.
