I'm just having a bit of a rant here but wonder if anyone knows the correct person or department to raise this with Edinburgh City Council.

A plot of empty land behind my house near Corstorphine is being developed into townhouses and although the development is welcomed in the area (as houses are better than derelict buildings) myself and a few of the neighbours are getting to the end of our tethers.
The build has been going on for a year and at the start of the works they removed a pavement from one side of the road, dropped a 'sales' portacabin and created a parking space for contractors/site visitors. Fair enough, but recently, as the build ramps up, contractors have started parking on pavements restricting access along the road for those of us on foot.
The road is actually double yellowed along its length but I have never seen a traffic warden or police enforce the restrictions.
Anyway, recently a neighbour who is blind walked into a vehicle, he switches between a guide dog and a cane so not sure which he was using at the time but he fairly skelped his knee.
THEN, as they have started digging up the road to provide services, they have installed temporary traffic lights. Not a bad thing normally but the sequence just 'aint working, long periods of red for a road that is a dead end and has excellent visibility through the short length of works as the road is die straight.
I've raised it with the contractors, 'not their problem', left voice-mail and emails for the builder, no reply,,,,who do I get in touch with next for a fair result?
I don't want to come across as a moaning nimby but if they just played fair we'd have nothing to complain about.

I suggest you contact one of your local councillors, as they're better placed to pull strings than the low-level officials who'll deal with a query to the council. If you can get a few neighbours to do the same it's likely to help, particularly if you hint that future votes may depend on the response.

I presume you are talking about the old Rentokil building site along from the nursing home?

That I am! I can't wait until it's finished because it will be good for the area but it's been a tough build. Our ceilings suffered superficial cracking when they completed necessary ground works through vibro-packing, then they deviated from the submitted plans but the council planning dept didn't do anything about it.
Never thought I'd say this but why can't all builders be like Wimpey where they can throw up a house in a week :-)

:agree: It's certainly been a long drawn out project, at one point I thought the developers had gone bust as there seemed to be very little activity whenever I walked past.

Guess it's karma, after my wee gripe, the power has just been cut off as the contractor has damaged the cable running the length of the street!
I'd say it's a joke, but it's not funny!

One of the area's MPs has a shop on St John's road, I think.

Get him/her involved.

Your local community council is always a good place to go.
