Lets be honest Gordon Strachan and John Robertson should have plied their trade in the green and white at ER.

Tommy Coyne to play alongside Keith Wright. They had an amazing partnership at Dundee (something like 50 goals between them one season) and I'd like to have seen them together at ER.

Joe Jordon from Morton for 30k instead of the 45k we paid St Mirren for Jim Blair in 1970.

Gordon McQueen for 30k in 1972, what an addition that would have been to the TT's & he would have been a better bet against Dixie Deans.

Gordon Strachan is a no brainer, Andy Gray [preferably] or John Duncan instead of Joe Harper.

But the main one would have been Alex Ferguson after ST Mirren emptied him in 1978, ET's Hibs team was tired by this time and had been in decline. Even if ET moved fully to the boardroom, he would never have agreed to him coming to ER, after the Alex Cropley incident.

Offered St Johnstone the 120K for Ally McCoist instead of John Brogan.

Apparently was about to sign for us in 1996 after being told he was no longer wanted at the PBS, a few days later they played Rangers at Ibrox (had 4 players sent off) and the deal was off.

My life would have been far more enjoyable if we had got him as a youngster

Billy Bremner was really keen to come to Hibs as a young man at Leeds but they (Leeds) asked for an extra £5,000 so we pulled out. Ring any bells ? Billy has nothing but good things to say about us in his book.Midfield with Bremner and Pat......wow

Leigh Griffiths this summer for me. The ultimate talisman. Just imagine him playing in a good Hibs team. Wish we could have had the Leigh of last season when Brown, Boozy, Thomson, Riordan and O'Connor were in their pomp around 2004 - 2006. Griffiths - O'Connor - Riordan. What a front three that would have bee. No offence to Ivan and Deano.

That said, do wonder if Leigh and Deeks were as succesful as they were coz they were the team's mavericks, the "man", numero uno, who did it themselves with their skill to an extent. Not sure there would have been room for two of them in the same team but would love to have been able to try it.

Eion Jess also, we were linked with him a few times when McLeish was boss and he was still a decent player.

Also, I am sure we had the chance to sign John Robertson at various points and I sure he would have more than done a job during the Alex Miller era when we often struggled for goals. Would certainly have taken away a few derby dissappointmnets and maybe added a few more memroable ones for us.

Hibs made a bid for BB in about 1964 so Gordon would have been a babe in arms at that time.

When did he retire? 'Cause I'm sure Strachan's career must have started in the mid-to-late seventies?

Yes but at that time Billy was captain of Revies' Leeds. Gordon was playing for Dundee when we won 7-0 at tynie. Him and big George Stewart leaping about when the score came through.

Was Andy Rhodes not meant to be signing for seasons on end?!haha I always remember sitting in the old cow shed with my dad and he always got a great reception when he played against us. I mind him throwing his gloves into our stand after a game. Always wanted the deal to happen. Another goalkeeper we were always meant to be signing was Alan Combe. It wasn't his gloves that I remember getting thrown into the crowd, it was his water bottle after Latapy scored a late pen up at Tannadice :-)
