BT Sport is being offered free on Freeview channel 57 from 7pm on Monday as part of a BT promotional drive. The article below doesn't mention the Thistle v Hibs match specifically, but it stands to reason that it will be one of the matches shown.

Well here's a prime example of tv killing the football fan.

I had spoke myself into going to the game. Now I know I can get it for free in the house, I won't be going.

Although maybe that's says more about me than anything else...

In an effort to pull in more subscribers BT (http://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.php/go/britishtelecom)’s consumer division has today announced that its new BTSport TV service, which is usually offered for free alongside their various home broadband and phone packages, will become available to EVERYONE with Freeview, BT (http://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.php/go/britishtelecom) TV, Sky TV (Sky Broadband (http://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.php/go/bskyb)) or Virgin Media (http://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.php/go/vm) TV for several weeks this month.

In short, viewers will be able to watch BTSport’s magazine and live sport programming on Freeview channel 57(note: only ‘BTSport 1′) from the weeks commencingOctober 7th and 14th (Monday – Friday from 7pm each evening). Similarly customers on Sky TV andVirgin Media (http://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.php/go/vm) will get access between October 25th to 28th (Friday 6pm – Monday 6am).

I would think so. Most modern tellies have built in freeview now anyway, it may just mean retuning your telly. I'd imagine they'll be pitching the service at sky customers though so probably will be available on a sky channel. Hopefully someone can provide a more definitive answer though.

So, for those with Sky, do we get this game and what channel number?

It's on BT Sport 1 so I'm guessing that all BT will do is decrypt their channel for the one night so that it's available for everyone to view.

If so, BT Sport 1 HD is channel 413 on Sky and the SD channel is 426.

As far as I've been able to find out they're showing Sport 1 for free throughout the month then bowing out on the last weekend by opening sport 2 as well

As for testing, if your scanning your box/tv should pick up the channel but it will give you a subscribe to view type message.
If you've not carried out a recent channel rescan then you might not be able to see anything at all until you do one

Surely he is just being honest? I've no doubt that there will be many more like him.

Judging by his previous posts, he seems like he may go to his fair share of games. However he is not willing to travel to Firhill on a Monday night when the game is live on telly.

His point is the negative effect that daft kick off times for tv is having on football.

It seems a fair point to me.

Sadly we don't get freeview channel 57 here in Perth. I was actually toying but I'd have to go there and back on the train/subway myself and to be honest I don't like wandering about Glasgow on my own at night after football. I know Partick aren't Rantic but there are still plenty of those knuckle draggers kicking about.

According to my EPG, the Hibs game is showing on channel 58, not Channel 57. There is no mention anywhere of the Hibs match being shown free on freeview. There will be some live rugby and chat shows.
This is what it says on the BT website:
Viewers will be able to watch BT Sport’s entertainment and chat shows and live sport on BT TV, Freeview channel 57 during the weeks of 7th and 14th October. The channel will be on air from 7pm Monday to Friday during those weeks. It will give viewers a chance to catch sports entertainment shows The Clare Balding Show and Baker and Kelly’s VSPO. Viewers will also be able to catch up on the latest from the worlds of UFC, rugby and football with discussion programmes, Beyond the Octagon, Rugby Tonight and Life’s a Pitch.
BT Sport will also be showing live sporting action on the channel during these two weeks including the FIFA World Cup 2014 Qualifier between Spain and Belarus, the UEFA U21 Qualifier between England and Lithuania, the Skrill Premier match between Macclesfield Town and Southport and Bundesliga action between 1899 Hoffenheim and Bayer Leverkusen.

The last sentence leaves me with some hope however. Fingers crossed.

I phoned Virginmedia to see if it will be available on Virgin Anywhere.

They hadn't heard anything about it!

TBF Hibs aren't a big name in Mumbai.

No offence to the residents of Mumbai rather the use of Mumbai etc. as UK call centres.

If you've got built in free view, do you still need an aerial? This could be the stupidest question I've ever asked. I'm not sure if my telly has built in free view either :faf:

As I said in my original post, the game is free on Freeview channel 57. It doesn't apply to Sky or Virgin. To get Freeview you need either a digital tv (which most people have) or a Freeview set top box, either of which needs to be connected to an aerial. If you can't find 57, try retuning. If that fails, either your aerial needs adjusting or you're in a place that doesn't get good reception.

This isn't complicated folks.

BT1 and BT2 not on Virgin or on Freeview. Looks like all we're getting is the BT preview channel.

Oh well Corrie and Eastenders it is then unless that match magically appears.

Looks like it will be shown on channel 57 after all. Get in there.

413 is the BT sport channel which you view via sky. However as far as I know it's only available to BT broadband customers .

Similarly customers on Sky TV andVirgin Media (http://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.php/go/vm) will get access between October 25th to 28th (Friday 6pm – Monday 6am).

don't think so ?
