The national lottery has increased it's price to £2 with different prize scales, 3 numbers now win £25 as opposed to £10. The majority of people I have asked in work, relatives and friends are now saying they will no longer play or some will just play the thunderball which remains at a £1 with a maximum payout of £500,000.

If you currently do the lottery will you stop?

I run a small syndicate at work. We will spend the same amount each week so will just buy fewer tickets each week.

I will only play on a Saturday from now on, I'm quite annoyed about it tbh.

I'm in a syndicate at work. Some folk are ok about it, some are no too sure. We got 4 numbers a couple of weeks back so the first two £2 draws are paid for. Hopefully we win big in the next couple of weeks and won't have to worry about it after that. :greengrin

My occasional 2 lucky dip will now be 1 and probably less often.

I've been doing the same numbers on two lines since it first started and I know both lines off by heart.

If I don't do them and I see the numbers come up, I don't know if I could live with myself....

The price being doubled.

Why do you find the first price increase in almost 20 years annoying?

Jeez if everything else had stayed the same price for so long we would be delighted...especially fitba!

I'm in same boat. Same 3 lines so just gonna carry on. Bought this weekends ticket quite late last night from the local scotmid. Lad said I was first ticket sold that day so I'm guessing many folk will just stop playing it now

I don't think it's the same as football prices. Doing the lottery is gambling and the reasons given for doubling the price is to increase the size of the smaller prizes and to give more to charity. When I put the lottery on its in the hope that I will win the jackpot, I don't know anyone who puts it on in the hope of getting 3 numbers or for giving more to charity. Maybe if the jackpot was going up I wouldn't mind so much, but that's not the case.

To be honest I wouldn't mind...20 years of stable prices followed by one big jump.

Would only happen 3 or 4 times a lifetime and during the rest of the period a £1 would be a £1 :-)

Inflation since 1994 is about 70% so the change would have to happen at some point. It makes sense to double the cost now and keep it stable for another decade or two.

Just don't see how anyone can be seriously bothered about it ...if you don't like the rise there is plenty of other ways of gambling your £1 to win big, often at substantially better odds! Either that or just buy half as many lines.

Changed to Hibs Lotto when that started and have been a bit more successful with that this the national one.

So I'll being sticking with our one :-)

Can't work out whether this increase makes it now more or less worth Gareth Bale's time buying a ticket.

In syndicate. Will keep playing with same numbers from the start. As previous poster has said, what if you stopped and they came up?
Didn't Cassilis, the Spanish goalie, forget to put his Dad's tickets on and his numbers came up?

They've now set the precedent. Don't be surprised if further increases follow. It is just another tax.

I only do the Euromillions anyway.

A measly £4M isn't enough for me, i need £50M+.

We've got the syndicate going at work, unless we start clawing some cash back I reckon it'll be bumped shortly with the price going up.

Changed my 2 lines of numbers every wed/sat to a new set of numbers on a Sat only.

Won £25 the first week.
