I just read this. It obviously applies to a few other players too.

It's almost comical to think that if the Welsh winger drops a £2 coin on the floor, it literally would not be worth his time to bend over and pick it up, as he'd have earned more in the three seconds it took to do so.

He earns £34 per minute!

Some years ago my Dad worked in one of the London casinos.

An Arab prince came in with his entourage of about 90 folk and lost around £30 million in just under 3 hours. He walked out richer than when he walked in.

At least Gareth Bale 'earns' it lol

:hmmm: £34 in 60 seconds is £1.70 in 3 seconds.

In the paper there was an article a while back with a chart showing how long it took footballers to earn various annual salaries.

It took Messi under 10 hours to earn what i make in a year. Crazy amounts of money.

I read that as well. Apparently, it only takes him 3 months to earn what I make in 5 minutes....or something

Not the best comparison though. How much does Tom Daley earn in a year? :dunno:

Tim Henman.

And in fairness, it won't change his looks but it will get him a ride.

Ronaldo's new wage bill is even more. It is hard to believe at points. Even pelligrini (sp?) earns an insane amount of money.

If he picks it up, he'll be £2 better off!

Whether or not it's worth his time is up to Gareth, but if they're talking literally...

It must be worth the effort as he'd be on double time for those 3 seconds.

Absolutely crazy crazy money. He'll earn more in a month than most of us will earn in an entire lifetime probably!

It would only be not worthwhile if Real Madrid docked his wages for the time taken to pick up the coin.

Since Bale is not paid hourly but is on an annual contract, this is not the case.

But if he wasn't wasting his time scavenging for coins, he could be using it endorsing things. RM wouldn't dock his wages for doing PG Tips commercials, etc, so it could still be argued that the £2 coin he picked up cost him something.

Bet he wishes he'd never spotted the bloody thing lying on the ground now!

When you place him in Spain of all countries it's actually tragic.
If/When the fall comes it will be even more spectacular.

In years to come, as he's lying on his solid gold bed blanketed in 1000 euro notes and frolicking, naked porn stars, when the bellboy asks where it all went wrong at least he'll know.

The premise of this is nonsense. Seeing as he is getting paid anyway, if he drops £2 and doesn't pick it up, he's £2 worse off than he would be if he picked it up.

Thing is, he actually earns more than £34 a minute. The club won't be his only source of income. He'll have countless contracts with merchandising companies and the likes.

Wouldn't surprise me if it's closer to 50-60 quid a minute! :dizzy:

The amount he gets paid, shirley Bale can afford staff to run around after him picking up money that spills out of his pockets, as this £2 coin did? :dunno:

Disgrace that someone of his standing should even have to spend time calculating whether to bend down and pick up his own dropped money.

It probably takes longer, and therefore costs him more in lost endorsement time, to do that calculation than it would to just dive down and get it!
