he Borussia Dortmund (http://www.theguardian.com/football/borussiadortmund) striker Robert Lewandowski has confirmed he will sign a pre-contract agreement with Bayern Munich (http://www.theguardian.com/football/bayernmunich) in January.Lewandowski revealed his desire to join the German and European champions over the summer, but accepted he would have to remain at Dortmund until next year when his contract expires.
The 25-year-old has reportedly already agreed terms on next summer's switch to the Bavarian club and had no reservations in making his intentions clear.
When asked by Sport1 television channel whether he could announce his switch to Bayern, the Poland international responded: "Yes, because then I can officially sign a contract."
Lewandowski was a pivotal player for the Westphalian club as they finished runners-up to Bayern in both the domestic and European leagues last season. The forward scored 36 goals in all competitions, which included becoming the first player to score four times in a Champions League semi-final when he dismantled Real Madrid single-handed.
He was unable to fire Dortmund to victory in the final, though, as Bayern claimed a 2-1 win at Wembley thanks to a last-gasp Arjen Robben goal.
Bayern made a bid for the striker over the summer but Dortmund were steadfast in their refusal to sell Lewandowski, who was also linked with Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester City, to their fierce rivals.
Lewandowski was unhappy with that decision and made clear he would let the final year of his contract with Dortmund run out before joining Bayern.
He has scored four goals this season to help Dortmund to the top of Bundesliga (http://www.theguardian.com/football/bundesligafootball) after six games, level on 16 points with Bayern.

It is terrifying how one club in the German league can afford to cherrypick who it wants from any of the other teams at will. I'd say it's worse than how the OF do it here because the teams Bayern are taking from are actually challenging them for the league and for trophies until they're dismantled. As an admirer of Dortmund for a good few years now this is even more infuriating.

Would this not be classed as tapping up a contracted player given that he has almost a year on his contract but has already agreed a move to Bayern?

Not too surprise as thought it would happen in the summer, but scary how good Barca are going to become!

Aye, devastated for Dortmund!!! That's what they do to 99% of the other clubs in Germany.
Gloryhunting fans up and down the country and further afield. Maybe why the atmosphere in such a great stadium is so mediocre if its filled with those types.

Marco Reus?? He left them when he was 16/17 to join a minnow and then they waved the cheque book when he blossomed at Gladbach and paid EUR17m for him about 6 years later.

It's like picking a favourite between Celtic and Rangers. Nein danke.

Clubs are a lot more ruthless with players than the other way round.

This is crazy. They already have an excellent striker in Mandzukic. What's going to happen to him? He's too good to be sitting on the bench most weeks.

I love watching both Bayern and Dortmund, because the standard of player and type of play is so high, but it's never good to see one team buying up all the opposition. Just keep your hands off Marco Reus, Bayern!

And how did he end up (back) at Dortmund?

Richer clubs buying poorer clubs best players, whatever next.
