That would be fantastic. An evening derby cup tie under the floodlights? Yes please.

It would also be one of the trips I'd choose as far as actually progressing in the competition is concerned. There are a lot of decent teams still in it.

I'm another that just has a feeling about QOS though. They could do a lot of damage, and not just at the Savile dome.

Is it not 50/50 after costs (police, stewards, turnstile staff, etc.), which may well end up being the equivalent of about 40%?

The draw for the quarter-finals of the Scottish League Cup will take place at Hampden Park this Thursday, September 26, at 3pm.

Hibernian, Inverness CT, Morton and St Johnstone will be joined in the last eight by the winners of tonight's remaining third-round ties.

The quarter-final draw is not seeded and games will be played on the midweek of October 29/30.

League and cup doubles in the space of a few days usually gets thrown up,
in that case, we have Aberdeen on the 26th Oct and Motherwell on the 3rd November.
Really wish I hadn't checked that - would rather avoid those teams.

Anyone at home, but a non SPL team would be ideal, and be a fantastic chance to reach a national semi-final.

It gives the competition more days in the media if the draw is on a separate date.

English league cup draw is instant because nobody really gives a crap about it. Newcastle apparently told their fans at a meeting earlier this week that league games will get much higher priority than both cups because the difference in league place money is much greater than likely rewards from cup progression. And that's a club that hasn't won a proper trophy in >40 years.

I heard last night the team finishing bottom of the EPL this year will receive more money (£63m) than the team that won it last year. (Man U) (£62m)
That alone let's you see how much the new tv deal this year down South is worth.

There isn't a team in that draw I fear. Avoiding a trip up north would be a bonus and Tannadice would be tricky but other than that I'll take anyone, home or away.

And even of we did get a trip up north, I'd still fancy our chances, we have the 2nd best squad in the league and it's coming together nicely now.

Trying not to get too far ahead of myself as it is only the quarters but this is anyone's trophy and I would see hibs as the strongest team in it.

Centre Hawf
25-09-2013, 11:18 PM
With no old firm in the trophy, its wide open. We probably have the best squad left out of the teams in the cup every player we have would walk into other teams it was just getting it to click was our problem and it appears that's beginning to happen. Inverness obviously right now are the form team but we will see how we do against them on Saturday.

Clicking would have been winning 15-0. Not switching off and losing 2 goals in a short space of time. Against better opposition we could have been thumped. That said it is also possible that we can beat any team left in the competition.

Sorry but that is what is wrong with a lot of Hibs fans and possibly some players. Hearts are on their knees we should be desperate to play them. We should be bossing them in games I would expect Hibs to win 5 or 6 draw 3 or 4 and only lose about 1 in 10 against this current Hearts squad. We should be asking to play them every week and definitely not the slighest bit concerned about playing tem.

Apart from Morton there really isnt much between any of the teams left in it. Id rather not draw Hearts as I reckon even now we would still find a way to cock it up, but apart from that any team at home would do me.

I don't get this "hope we get hearts" gung ho attitude.

They have done pretty well this season (especially at swine castle where they have beaten us, Aberdeen and were drawing with Celtic with not long to go).

They will likely be more up for it than we will be (historically that has been the case in the majority of games, regardless of personnel).

So I'd rather avoid them and hope they go out in the next round!!!!! Would be great if they got ICT away and got horsed.

Apologies if my view is deemed as defeatist !!!!!

:agree:

with no Celtic there isn't really a favourite anymore - the teams are too evenly matched. I wouldn't be knocking Morton from progressing again depending on who they draw - a home tie for them and you could see them knocking out the likes of Hearts :greengrin

anyone at home.. bring on ICT away.. couldn't give two hoots.. i'm in the fraame of mind we can beat anyone.. i want teams to be fearing us for a change

Agree with this. Doesn't matter if it's f****** home or away to Aberdeen, Inverness, Motherwell, Dundee United etc. Let's bring them on and give them our best shot. If you want to be the best, you've got to beat the best. On our day, we are more than capable of beating anyone that's left in this competition.

I'm hoping, for Europe's sake, that some quirk of fate doesn't put us up against the proud young Hearts side where for some reason we have to play them in Bulgaria. The mass flooding could be catastrophic for mainland Europe with devastation so bad, we'd have been as well asking Hearts not to have bothered with winning two world wars.

I do get where you are coming from, especially after THAT final. And yes I agree totally that the usual run of things seems that they are always up for a derby more than we are. However, having said that, I think that NOW is the time to break that spell. We have a team that at first looked good on paper, and IMO is now coming together on the pitch. Yes Heff is a big loss being cup tied, but IF we draw them, and we have Home advantage, it could be another game similar to Stranraer where we basically pummel them into the ground (Oh how I would love to see that day). OK on another day it may work in reverse going but the sheer jammyness they have had against Raith and now QoS. But maybe......just maybe.........

We have as good a chance as anyone of winning this thing IMO so the chance to play any of our main rivals at home before neutral venues kick-in and put them out is what I'd like. So - Inverness, Motherwell or Aberdeen at home please.

Great draw for Hibs as we have avoided either Motherwell/Aberdeen or Inverness/Dundee Utd in the semis. Our name is on the cup as that is as good as a bye. Their luck has to run out sometime.

I think it will be the Wednesday and probably Live on BBC Scotland. Sensible ticket prices should ensure a large crowd

Well I for one welcome our poverty-stricken neighbours into Edinburgh's finest and biggest football stadium. As a token of our sympathy, we shall also give the tramps a percentage of the gate receipts to deter them from ripping off any more charities or Poppy Funds.

Now that's Hibs Class.

Wednesday please....an early Birthday pressie of a win before celebrating on Friday :greengrin

Edit

For those saying sensible / £5/£15 tickets...not a chance...clubs get 50/50 split after expenses (Normally about 40% net) and both clubs have to agree pricing

No way are BDO going to miss the fatted calf......

Time to think up some appropriate songs.

As the game is shortly before Remembrance Sunday, how about:

'Paid for our Poppies,
oh yes we paid for our Poppies...'

OR

'shall we buy a,
shall we buy a,
shall we buy a wreath for you'

If we give that shower of inbred, twelve-toed, blazer-wearing, poppy-stealing ***** the spanking that their thievery and cheating thoroughly deserves, I might just change my mind on Fenlon.

Home to Aberdeen on the Saturday

Absolutely yes. They need to be shamed and embarrassed. Especially if it's on television.

Here we go again with the 'easy draw' type comments. Not wishing to be a wet blanket and I do think Hibs will beat them, but every time we're due to play them we get these ridiculous statements saying they are p!sh and we'll maul them. It's a recipe for a massive let down if the jammy gits do us again.

I do indeed have a cup top up. And no, I didn't use it on Tuesday.

I seem to recall playing Hearts in the League Cup quarter final at Easter Road not that long ago?

Anyone remember what happened then?

The first derby of the season they had the confidence and the belief that they could compete at SPFL level.

That's been shattered by a series of losses - Hibs surely big favourites here now we're playing with confidence and have Craig, Zouby, Collins, Robertson etc. playing well.

Times have changed, Jonnyboy. They ARE terrible and if we expect our players to take to the field believing they are a far better team than Poppy Stealers FC, we should sure as hell do likewise off the pitch. I'm not saying we will destroy them, but we are better than them.
