The basics of being a human being never mind a parent is to protect children. This story makes me angry. No doubt that social services and the like will get stick for this. The full story will come out later but for me she is **** of the highest order.

Surely no sane human would live in such conditions no matter treat a child like that.

Slight tangent but I wonder where the father was...wonder how clean he thinks his hands are.

Tragic from start to finish and a sequence of events that really is beyond any comprehension.

Appalling. Maybe I just didn't notice these types of stories before I had my own family but these types of children's deaths appear to be more common now than they used to be.

Who knows what some of these kids could have achieved, given the right environment and upbringing.

Same with me, it feels like there's one horror story every week.

The one that's hit me hardest recently was the 6 year old who had his eyes scooped out in China. The sorrow, rage and then futility I felt after reading that was overwhelming.

I believe that the reporting of such incidents is paramount to raising public awareness and hopefully minimising such acts being repeated, but most of the time I end up wishing I hadn't read it.

Totally and utterly disgusting. What has that poor wee soul ever done to deserve that.

This may seem harsh but if she can't look after one she shouldn't be allowed to have another. Yes we live in a democracy but she should be sterilised. She let that child starve and die and let it lie for 2 years.

Yes it seems harsh but there are plenty of people out there that cannot have children who would of cared and loved that child.
