Just been to see the world premier of the film version of Sunshine on Leith here in Toronto. I have to say it was brilliant and very well received by the film buff at TIFF. The boys were there and were pleased with the way it turned out. I think it's released in the uk next month.::top marks

I saw the trailer for it at the cinema last night (see below) and I'm looking forward to seeing the full version.

It makes Edinburgh look great too.

I thought most of it was filmed in Glasgow.

Well, the trailer shows loads of Edinburgh.

Maybe you're thinking of the war zone scenes. :greengrin

Having not seen the stage show i'm not sure if i could handle the chorus number versions of the proclaimers songs.

The city does look fantastic on film tho and i have heard from various people that the stage show was excellent.

The Reids make a cameo apparently

The play was excellent. It's not just about Hibs. It's a celebration of the songs of the proclaimers, telling a story and basking in Leithisims. It's very braw. We'll see in the film is as good.

Edinburgh is always good on film. The best flats in Britain anaw

I saw the show in Edinburgh. At one point the two actors are (looking out to the audience) supposedly watching a Hibs game on TV in the Cabbage & Ribs.
One shouts 'goal' as the Hibs 'score'. The guy sitting in front of me jumped up and shouted "Yes!!!!".

Eh buddy, it wis only a play. Very funny at the time though. :greengrin

Released in the UK tomorrow - anyone planning to see it?

I saw a preview last weekend, really enjoyed it.
As was said above, Edinburgh looks absolutely great in the film, and the songs are excellent. It's a good reminder of just how clever some of the Proclaimers songs are.

If you can get over the fact that it's a musical, and folks keep bursting into song in the street, I recommend it.

Definately going to see it at somepoint. Both Filth and Sunshine on Leith to see, both portraying slightly different sides of Edinburgh. :greengrin

I just booked tickets to see it tonight.

I'm really looking forward to it, but slightly worried I'll make a fool of myself. :boo hoo:

Saw the film tonight. Very good. Garry O plays the lead character.
Well it's either him or an actor called George Mackay ;-)
