Basically they have kept operating the competition on the same basis as when there were five teams qualifying for Europe. If there had been five places available then Inverness would have qualified. If they reduced the number of byes to four they would need to adjust the number of ties played in the earlier rounds.

Surely the Miller signing would need to wait until January when Ally's £10 million war chest becomes available.

The problem with getting players out of Ibrox is that a lot of ones they'd like rid of are paid more than anyone else will offer. They've already had to give Bocanegro and Goian money to go away.
