The 5 year plan has started :fenlon:jmcp:

Will be a tough game next week against County (can't believe I'm actually saying that as we are at home...)

Seems Liam Craig plays better when he's the main man in midfield and KT is not alongside him!

A badly needed win. Good to see Craig getting amongst the goals. While I don't think Fenlon is the man for the job, I'd be delighted to be proved wrong. 3 points v Ross County next week and we'll be top 6. It's a funny old game :greengrin

Great result, really didn't see that coming!

Really pleased for Liam Craig, always thought he would come good, but its taken a few games. Hopefully, he has his confidence back, all we need is Vine and Collins to get a goal and who knows

Much needed result. Given whats happened elsewhere in the SPFL today losing this game would have put us well on the back foot. This is not a season for any team to get relegated coz its going to be a bugger trying to get back up given what the Championship could look like next season.

Got to say though that its going to take more than this result to convince me and I'm sure a lot of other folk that this is the start of a Hibs revival. The stuff which was wrong prior to today is still wrong. From reading the updates on here it still looks like our strikers barely registered a shot on goal.

We have been crying out for more goals from the midfield for a long time and now Robertson and Craig have done the business in that area in the last two weeks. But, a goal threat from midfield is a good thing because it should give the forwards more room to play because the opposition defenders have more to think about. We still need the strikers to be a threat though, which doesnt appear to be the case at the moment.

We still need width and pace. I've got a feeling that Killie are not the toughest opposition we are going to meet this season.

Having said all of that, well done to the team today, any away win is a good win and I seriously do hope they kick on from here and that me and every other Hibby who has slagged of Pat Fenlon this week gets left with egg on our face at the end of the season ....... I still doubt that will happen though.

Yous probably won't play many teams who will spend 90 mins thumping long balls to a strike partnership who are 5ft7 and 5ft10 against Nelson!

Think it might be a long season for both of us!

Our first win, so pleased, but still lots to do. Did not go today, but myself and my son will be there at ER next week. I don't care about Hearts, Aberdeen or the rest of the teams. I'm only concerned for Hibs.
lets do better and get more points next week, lets get behind all involved with Hibs and hopefully the players will get confidence, and seeing our strikers score next week also.

Ive been a big critic of Vine but his movement in the second half today and link up play with Craig was excellent. He was running at them and seemed to be popping up everywhere. Needs a goal though and I still dont see anything resembling a partnership with Collins.:agree:

My thoughts. Good to dig out the 3pts. Thought Taiwo was excellent. Vine was woeful for 45 and excellent for 45. Also thought the back 4 were decent, particularly Nelson.
Collins works hard, but is less effective as he feels he needs to come back to midfield to collect the ball all the time. Another decent game from Handling.

When you think we have Robertson, Thomson, Cairney, Harris, Clancy ad McPake to come back, that's more than half a first choice team possible, we could have plenty options at some points of the season, especially if we bring in another 1 or 2

Just select a different area (US seems to work) from the scroll down selection thingy. Well taken goals by Craig, his booking seems like a strange decision by the referee after watching the celebration he was punished for. I could be wrong. :dunno:

I know you are not saying me, but everyone who's on this thread wants Hibs to do well. And if Hibs are doing well, the manager will be doing well, but while we are doing as badly as we are, the manager will rightly get stick.

Personally i wish Petrie would go in that changing room at half time and boot him right in the baws and kick his arse out the door straight after it.

Let Tam McCourt manage the rest of the game, he couldn't do any worse. When you gonna call for a boycott like you did with Mixu:rolleyes:

Really good and much needed 3 points - have to tip the hat to the players because at half time is was looking ominous. The football still needs to improve markedly but hey if we can take 3 points in a game that is nip and tuck and show fight and desire like that, you have to be happy with that.

Real test will be the game v R County. A bogey side for Hibs and sadly they seemed to click yesterday albeit at home. A win would get that momentum going - signing a winger or creative player this week would be the icing on the cake.

25-08-2013, 10:15 AM
I genuinely think we are one quick/creative player away from being a top 4 side at least. We have the foundation of a good side, I just think our biggest problem is linking the midfield and the front-line which a creative player should hopefully solve.

I agree, but PF will need to suit his own particular "brand of football" to ensure that the winger receives good service from the midfield players.

You only need to think back to last season when the majority of the "passes" that the likes of Harris, Matt Done and Ivan Sproule received were lumps up the park from the central defenders.

Then of course we'll no doubt face the prospect of PF playing the winger on his less favoured side.!

From what people said it seems those highlights made us look a bit better than we did. But nicer passing football on display which could have ended in a couple goals. Good ball from Stevenson (tin hat on) to Craig and good seeing him out-muscle that bellend Darren Barr for the goal (which was a good finish)

Just seen the goals, good chasing from Craig for the second. Not had a midfielder going beyond the strikers for a while now. Killie still defending like they did during the 4-2 game last season I see. Also just caught the Hearts goals, the second one was an absolute howler from Nicky Weaver who was obviously only playing coz Langfield was suspended. They really are the jammiest mob going

Their goal was a peach, but its come directly from our throw in going to nelson who aimlessly punted it. That's not good enough.

Our 1st goal was a good move and a good finish, same with the second goal.

As for commentators/reporters suggesting that killies last minute chance was some kind of sitter - nonsense, it was a tough chance, and people seem to be trying to pretend we were lucky to pursue the anti Hibs/fenlon agenda.

Mince.

Put together a couple of nice moves for the goals and also the offside goal with many players involved. OTJ did well to win the ball for Stevenson to ping it to Craig for the second and the first was well worked with a good ball in from Vine. Some good signs there. Still need a bit of pace about it though.

Nicholson's wonder strike, some goal but 5 seconds earlier its our throw in the right back area, instead of keeping the ball LS throws inside to Nelson to volley it as hard and as long as he can. Killie win header and few seconds later its a goal to Killie.

Absolute horrible stuff IMO and that can only come from the coaching staff.

I disagree, god knows we play some terrible football at times but that move will be done by most clubs during a game. It is a move that's practiced on the training ground all over the country.

Disagree. Our coaching for throw ins has been non existent for the last 20 years. To think there could be actually two things coached into them(find a player, punt it) in one week is obviously nonsense.:na na:

Nah, aye with a few mins to go but you'll not see teams that want to keep possession and play football giving the ball away so cheaply. We play far too many % balls and HOPE to keep possession.

It's horrible to watch, long diagonals up to striker or ball played into a channel to chase down.
