Morning all,

Found this interview on STV news app. Good listen and Ben speaks well.

Apologies if link doesn't hyperlink, trying to post on my phone.

Meh. Heard the same stuff from players under Calderwood and the other failed managers.

Same with PF blasting the players last week. They all say that every 3 or 4 games after saying how unlucky we've been, how they played well etc etc

In a run of 6 bad games , first 4 we will have been unlucky, 5th one players must try harder, 6th one we were unlucky again.

There must be a "poor results for dummies" book out there.

Good interview - no hyperbole just calm assessment. No sign from him of cracks in the camp

The - 'if fans saw us train they wouldn't think we were the same team' is again reference to not taking it onto pitch.

Maybe open training sessions to help support / players bond?

Sports psych. required though if there are such issues...

:agree: Perhaps a specialist in agoraphobia.

Ben Williams is probably my favourite player at the moment. Hes holding us together.

Did they not say they were going to do more open sessions at eater road to bond with supporters? Interview also in the Record. My issue is that there does not appear anyone taking the lead in the team or management to sort this out. Today against a very poor Killie team should tell us if they really mean in

Or alternatively you could blame the lot of them, players, manager, board??

What a cracking, well spoken lad Ben Williams is! Lucky to have him in the team. I have no reason to not believe what he's saying so lets hope the team can get a win today and really kick on and show that we'll be a top 6 team this season.

You referring to my post or Hibs fans in general?

I disagree, apparently they cant play in front of spectators, so if we started to watch them train, very soon we'd have the same kind of performance at training.

Maybe we should buy season tickets for East Mains & let them get on with it at Easter Road. Then they could tell us how ***** they are at training after giving someone a pumping?? Instead of the usual keek..

I've been saying for quite some time that all home games should be played at East Mains. It's been the refrain from players and management since Mixu that they play much better there than at Easter Road. Apparently, without the crowd getting them down, they're all Messis and Maradonas.

Maybe this is what the development at Easter Road and East Mains was that Petrie referred to. They're going to surround East Mains with live TV cameras and have beam-backs to the newly bought giant screens at Easter Road.

I still really dont understand what you dont get? My point was that Im sick of being told who to blame or who not to blame, or who I should get behind, by the very people I blame for the mess we are in. I personally blame the board , then the manager, then the players for the mess we are in..

So what he is fibbing or spinning us a yarn or what?!! Williams seems like a sensible enough lad and he is simply telling it as he sees it?!

Football players are programmed to tell us the usual crap, everyones giving 100% we are all together, we just need a bit of luck blah blah blah.

The will never come out and say the managers clueless, Mullen will never make it as a footballer as long as he has a hole in his erse, or we are too negative.

Understand you now. FWIW I like Williams and over the last year or to, he along with King Leigh have been the only two consistent performers. For that reason, I'm more willing to listen and more importantly believe what he says.

I can't listen to Fenlon anymore nor am I interested in Petrie.

I like Ben and his interview was broadly good with sone interesting points, but yet again we hear this old chestnut; 'based on the size and history of the club we should be top six (he corrects himself) 'at least...maybe pushing for top four'.

No, no, no. Based on our size and potential, Ben, we should be aiming for 2nd. Every year. No excuses. This is the mentality that needs to be installed.

Hughes and Mixu both said something similar as well IIRC.

If the buck stops anywhere, it's with the people who have the final over-riding say on what goes on at the club - that's Farmer and Petrie. They're the common denominator in the last five years of drifting, vision-less futility. That doesn't mean that players, coaches and managers don't share the responsibility.

So since we're away from ER today, and the away support is usually considered to be more positive than the home crowd, will we see a real improvement in attitude and approach at Kilmarnock?

:dunno:

I agree that Williams has been one of our better performers over the past year, although he seems to go through 2-3 game spells where he either lacks confidence or concentration, he also at times cant deal with cross ball set pieces, however I also believe that if he was flawless then he wouldnt be playing for Hibs, that's just being realistic.

I just find it boring & patronising listening to the same guff coming out of whatever player or managers mouth time after time. On the park is where I wanna see evidence of how well the team are training. Also I don't need to be told who to blame either while they are at it..

Could we not all go see them train friday early evening at EM and then have a decent night night out of fan bonding and leave the w/e free for family other things ...and the team to play a low attended stormer and bag the points ...:dunno:

Not necessarily, but I'd take anything any footballer said the day before a match with a hefty pinch of salt.

They are programmed and under instructions to be positive.

Some folks would call it psychology; others might call it lies. I couldn't possibly comment.

Yip, in my opinion it is bollox, its all bollox what normally comes out a player or managers mouth. Tired cliches and the same excuses from them all, you never hear them tell it how they really feel.

Crackin idea. Footage of the crowd should be beamed back to East Mains too (only happy clapping supporters), and relaxing orchestral music to keep everyone calm. Massages all round at half time.
