Watching that was very depressing.
Not exactly MENSA candidates, are they?
Whilst it would be wrong to jusge people solely on hpw they look, it has to be said if you were describe a caricature of these people, you'd probably go for fat, incredibly stupid looking, hun-esque, neanderthals. And voila!
Scottish Defence League my arse.
Irony isnt a strong point either - one minute they're singing "you aren't British any more" then straight onto Flower of Scotland and sending Proud Edward away. Well, at least he wasn't a Black or a Pole I suppose...

How would you describe the folk who seem to be the ones causing the bother from the counter demo? whats your thoughts on them?
Dont get me wrong, ive got no alliegance to either side just curious as to why you seem quick to give the folk a hard time who seem to be having a normal demo and ignoring the fact the people on the other side are the ones intent on violence. You seem keen to get the point across its wrong to judge people based on how they look, then you go on to do exactly that.
Dont bother giving me a hard time about what they do or if its right or wrong, im genuinley not interested, i just think that they, like anyone have the right to a demo/march whatever it is which again, regardless of the point they are trying to make seems quite peaceful.
Im guessing whatever there point is its not a popular one, but for me, looking in, the people on the outside getting arrested and causing the trouble would seem more similar to the type of person you describe than the people holding the demo.

Of course they should. But, given that walking on two legs appears to be an achievement for most of them, we shouldn't expect too much too soon.
Other than that, it's only fair that the rest of us get a chance to see how reasonable fascists can be. I'm not sure I'd let my daughter marry one though.

Straight after the game so about 5:15pm. These guys were definately part of the SDL as most had the hoodies on in the video.

I don't get the SDL at all, really. Scotland is probably one of the least diverse places in Europe. I'm sure I read somewhere that the Scottish population is 98.8% white.
I'm kind of from the view that we should be getting upset that 98.8% of the population are from the same gene pool, not getting all hysterical because 1.2% aren't!

Politically, I would have more sympathy with the counter demo, although I'm sure they have there fair share horrible individuals too.
I wasn't keen on pointing out its wrong to judge people on their appearance - almost the opposite, in fact - in what I hgad hoped was slightly sardonic tone. Obviously I missed. I do think, however, that it is quite easy when looking at this group (especially en masse) to work out that they are unlikely to be active volunteers in the local Liberal Club.
I wouldn't give you a hard time about the what they're doing - what a strange, preemptive defence to make. Sadly, s part of a democracy, we cant (or shoudn't) pick and choose within the law who has a right to march and who doesn't. I think they are morally repugnant, bovinely stupid and bigoted, but they're rightly allowed to protest politically, as are the counter demonstrators.

Wonder if they were staying at the Travelodge at the Harbour. I certainly hope my favourite pub hasn't become a Munich beer hall.

With fascism, it's always inevitably necessary to choose a side and then get ready for a fight. Fascists arent content with making seemingly 'peaceful points', there will always be another scapegoat, target, clampdown. Personally, I know which side I'm on.
Kind of boring video though. Is that what demos are all about these days? Both sides pointing cameras at each other? Where's the violence and wit :dunno:

I saw Tommy Robinson on "the Revolution will be televised". He was asked about a woman wearing the Hijab and said they should "go home"... not surprising then that he was a member of the BNP for a while.
Watched a bit of the video and was amused not only at the stupid twats on it but the google add that flashed up. " Free personality test". Irony at it,s best:greengrin

I somehow managed to walk right into the middle of this thing when taking a shortcut.
Why the "S"DL were waving British flags near the Scottish parliament was beyond me. Must have thought they were in England.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I see the EDL leader Tommy Robinson has quit due to the group becoming too "extremist"

The guy himself is an extremist - went along to a couple of BNP meetings I read. He also said there are "decent" people in the EDL! Shocking.
