Can't see it posted elsewhere, so how about a wee thread for posts on who we've been to see and if we'd recommend them.
James Acaster - Liked him previously and thought he was even better this year. Very funny set.. Would recommend.
Alfie Moore - Not the best, although he didn't have the best crowd on the night which certainly won't have helped him. Wouldn't recommend.
AAA Late Stand-up - Laura Lexx was funny and engaged with the crowd very well. Very good job as compere. Wasn't entirely convinced by others, but had it's funny moments. If you've had a few drinks and you've nothing else you really want to see then go for it. :aok:

Simon Evans at Stand 1 - better than last year so pretty good! Some really funny bits and engages well with audience. Probably suited to a more mature audience as lots of material about family life/events. Stand is a good venue as its a regular comedy club with a bar! 8/10.
Brendon Burns tonight.

Saw James Acaster last year, and me and the wife are going along this year too. Looking forward to it. :agree:

Going to see "Baby Wants Candy" on Tuesday night as it's 2 for 1. Heard it's brilliant if it's your type of thing.

Can we change the thread title, please?
It's the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. :na na:
Sorry, it rips my pedantic knitting when I see or hear it described it wrongly.

Festival of the Spoken Nerd - Funny and interesting show, very witty banter and some cool experiments. Think Brainiac combined with The Big Bang Theory.
Pete Firman - Outstanding. Hillarious and mind-boggling. A fantastic combination of magic and comedy. No amount of synonyms for 'great' do him justice.
Viva La Cabaret - went on a whim... pretty awful. Infact, very awful. One only to be recommended to Jambos as a wind-up.

Heard them interviewed on radcliffe and maconies show on 6music a few weeks ago, sounded excellent though I agree with radcliffe that they should have called it twobular bells.
Edit- it might have been the shaun Keaveny show actually, all those northern English accents blend into one after a while.

Craig Campbell Canadian comedian who was part of "return of the lumberjacks" trio at last years festival (think they won an award last year for the show). He is superb, extremely funny me and the mrs have already booked tickets for this years gig and this will be our third year seeing him.

**** and the Gang - I recommend this highly, just a man singing very crude songs on very crude subjects. Milder titles include, ****ing over a pornographic polaroid of an ex-girlfriend who died, That's my erection and Let's send nan to dignitas.
Obviously a warning to not go if you are easily offended!

Jason Byrne - Really funny, enthusiastic and generally bonkers comedy.
Late Night Gimp Fight - Superb, an absolutely brilliant sketch show. An hour very well spent. Would highly recommend.

Anyone seen Christian O'Connell? I listen to him on Absolute radio in the morning but he's taken time off to make his comedy debut at the festival..
He's good on morning radio, interested to find out what people think of his stand up.

I saw this in 2010, completely crude and cringe worthy but funny all the same.
I saw a brilliant show today which i'd recommend which was comedy/theatre with a lot of skill. It was called "Nick: An Accidental Hero"

If you're amused by the name of the show then go along, if you're not then don't. Funny show if you like that sort of stuff though.
Saw The Boy with Tape on his Face last night, was excellent.

Ellis and Rose: Big in Denmark - honking, utterly honking. I think it is one of the only times I have been to a show and not even cracked a smile. Very poor quality sketch show (if that was what it was meant to be) and no big pay off at the end. Guys look very pretentious too. Only recommend to a Yam.
Yianni in Think Big - very funny comedian, would highly recommend. A comedy about the traits needed to be successful and the types of people that have the traits that hamper their development to thrive. Funny stories about his youth too.
Benjamin Partridge: An Audience with Jeff Goldblum - highly enjoyable, probably the best of the lot I went to see today/tonight (excluding **** and the Gang) and it involves a lot of audience participation. You get to name an imaginary prawn and I called my one 'Romanov' and there is a mock funeral for a random character from Jurassic Park where the audience fills in the script all while the comedian pretends to be Jeff Goldblum.

Looks like it could be, but I haven't seen the scarf design before so I don't think it is.

John Robbins - Really funny and entertaining. Enjoyed his show quite a lot.
Set List - Improvised comedy based on random topics, and I mean extremely random. Not easy in the slightest.

Andrew Maxwell's 'banana kingdom' last night. Chuckled a few times but fairly predictable standup fare really. 7\10.

Nish Kumar - Laughed the whole way through it. A lovely man who is very, very funny.
Pete Firman - Second time I've seen him this year simply because I really want to find a flaw in his act/understand how he does the things he does. Fantastic magic. :top marks
Comedy All-stars - Piff the magic dragon: Fantastic magic trick but was very unlucky that the assistant he picked was the drunkest person in the place/high.
James Acaster - good mix of material from his show and other stuff, very funny.
Milton Jones - Brilliant one liners. I didn't think I was a fan of that type of comedy but it was delivered perfectly and each one was brilliant.
Overall, a very good night at the fringe. :aok:

Christian Reilly's Songs of Praise - free show at Wilkie House in the Cowgate.
Just one man and his guitar but was much more than just funny songs (although they were very funny). Was absolutely brilliant and I loved every minute of it.
P.S. - Drinks were expensive though!

The Tobacco Merchant's Lawyer at the Assembly Rooms.
Chin-strokingly serious at times, seriously funny at others.

Neil Delamere - Really really funny stand-up with some hilarious improvised banter with the crowd. Would definitely recommend.
David Trent - A bit rude and in your face comedy that was also rather funny, a few very funny bits and some parts which dragged on a little bit.

Charlie Baker - A fairly entertaining show, decent singer/performer with comedy interspersed in the show and has a good team with him. Not really my thing though.
Andrew Lawrence - Superb. I'm not usually a fan of the depressing comedy sort of thing but he delivered it perfectly and had some great banter with the first row. Note: If you don't want to be picked on, don't sit there. Very funny.

Jonny and the Baptists - Really funny songs with some really good comedy and banter inbetween. Would highly recommend.
Chris Martin - Observational stand-up comedy, really funny stuff from a really nice guy. Some hilarious stories.
Jimmy McGhie - Stand up comedy again, was really funny and uses the audience well.

I need a doctor - A musical theatre duo performing a really good show about Dr. Who, really funny and clever - if you like Dr. Who I'd thoroughly recommend.
Colin Geddis - Really funny Irish stand-up incorporated videos into his act which I thought was cheating a bit but still funny and good with the crowd.
Hot Dub - Great night out :greengrin

Festival is over now and the thread was starting to turn more into 'Dan's short and uninspiring blog', however:
Circa - Unbelievable talent in every single one of them. If their show tours I'd recommend.
