Read this article and hadn't seen it posted elsewhere, anyone know if we're one of the 7 clubs whos sales have gone up? Thought our sales last season may have been swelled by the clamour for a cup final ticket anf as a result we may be down on last season..

I would think we are. The season ticket launch was well received.

We are one of those seven, yes, but I think it's only by a small amount.

TBF, the ST sales for this season and last are skewed a bit by the fact you guaranteed a Cup Final ticket by buying one. Also, Hearts would have been massively down for this season had it not been for the begging bowl put out by BDO.

Our ST sales should be OK for next season if we make the Cup Final again.

I'd hazard a guess that it's Killie & Celtic with reduced sales.. I heard Celtic were struggling to keep the sales up earlier in the year and Killie fans have all that bother with their chairman?

Think Celtic are one of the o e who went up as they cut prices by £100.

I'm sure I read Dundee Utd have only sold 4000 down a few hundred from last season.

SO, not all doom and gloom the ar5eholes from the SFA and Sevco would have you believe last year then.

That can't be true surely, beloved owner said that we were 400 up on this time last year a couple of weeks ago...:wink:

Folk who bought a ST to get a ticket for last years cup final bought a ST for this year not last year, so our numbers would be up this year and not down .

So does anyone know who the two that are down are? Maybe the Yams are one :dunno:.

As per my previous post - Dundee Utd are one.

Sure Celtic are the other which is probably the reason they are not breaking things down.

Quite unbelievable that Donkey can come out with this when last year he was one of the most vocal armaggeddon spreaders.

SPFL chief executive Neil Doncaster points to Scotland enjoying the highest crowds per capita in Europe and is confident the league changes will provide a boost for domestic football.
"There have been some difficult times but I think at times we do beat up on ourselves a bit too much," he told BBC Scotland.

Would be fascinating to see how many we've sold in the past six days.

Hadn't we sold over 8000 when the club made the 11000 sales target announcement on the official site? No doubt this was tongue in cheek in response to the Yams constant begging - but I did think we could sell over 9000.

Celtic are quoted as saying sales have gone up on last year, apparently due to reducing prices.
Anyone think theres good business sense in reducing the price per number of st's sold? Sure a club down south reduced the prices if they sold over 8k, 10k etc..

Hibs were in two cup finals so it would make no effect on the comparison between last years season ticket numbers as opposed to this years.

But we did better in the more recent cup final. Not only did we only concede three goals but we out sung the opposition. :aok:

I have not paid much attention to the data for over-all bums on seats for a few years now, but was still a bit surprised at the fairly low figures for the likes of Aberdeen and Dundee Utd.

Aberdeen: 9,563
Celtic: 46,917
Dundee United: 7,482
Hibernian: 10,543
Inverness Caledonian Thistle: 4,038
Kilmarnock: 4,745
Motherwell: 5,362
Partick Thistle: 3,705 *
Ross County: 4,343
St Johnstone: 3,640
St Mirren: 4,389
Hearts: 13,163

That's average attendances

There are no official figures for season tickets - the article is based on responses from the clubs I guess, and therefore will be variable in terms of the accuracy.

The derby effect, or lack of it i s'pose. Shame, but understandable.

Wonder if we will shift less when there are no derby games in season 14/15? :greengrin i think ours may actually go up

I honestly don't see that happening if/when the Yams are liquidated. If Mercer had had his way, how many of us would let our kids grow up Yams? And given the TV exposure to English and overseas football, those children are unlikely to take more than a passing interest in Scottish football if they do not have a club to follow.

I know what you're saying, but I think you underestimate the power of peer pressure, especially in the early years. My son is 5 and his closest friends are almost all Hibs fans. One of his friends who is a Hearts fan has already said that if Hearts go bust he will start supporting Hibs, he's already worn one of my sons Hibs strips this summer. Understandable as the Hearts strip probably gives him a rash anyway. :greengrin

It may take a few years but people will eventually stop talking about Hearts and the kids will come to Hibs. :agree:
