Interested to know what the players are saying about Thursdays "performance".

Anyone spoken to any players and can share their views?

I presume/hope they are embarrassed and determined to prove all their critics wrong ?!?

When I bumped into them in George street late on Thursday night they seemed in good spirits !

P.S the George street bit was an attempt at humour!!

Humiliated Hibs players couldn't look each other in the face after Malmo trouncing, reveals Lewis Stevenson

THE 9-0 aggregate drubbing is a record defeat for a Scottish club in Europe and Stevenson admits there are no excuses.

HOMEGROWN Hibee Lewis Stevenson thought nothing could ever come close to the devastating feeling of losing a cup final 5-1 to Hearts.

Then he woke up yesterday morning with his team the laughing stock of Europe and realised he was wrong.

Stevenson would be forgiven for hiding away from the world after Thursday night’s 7-0 drubbing by Malmo (http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/hibs-played-like-bunch-kindergarten-2094858) at Easter Road.

The home dressing room resembled a morgue at full-time as players sat shellshocked in stony silence, staring at the floor and unable to look each other in the eye.

Their toe-curling shame was understandable after a Europa League humiliation that will go down in infamy.

The 9-0 aggregate drubbing is a record defeat for a Scottish club in Europe and Stevenson hates the fact he and his team-mates will forever be remembered for dragging Hibs’ name through the mud.

The 25-year-old defender was honest enough to admit there are no excuses as he raked over the coals of a depressing defeat.

He said: “We all feel numb and we don’t know what went wrong.

“Losing 5-1 in the Scottish Cup Final to Hearts was low but this is a major downer as well.

“Hibs are not in Europe that often and everyone was looking forward to the experience.

“We have not done ourselves justice or any favours at all.

“I have already heard all the talk about this being the worst European result for Hibs and the heaviest defeat for a Scottish club in Europe.

“I try not to look at these things at the best of times but when you are part of something like this it is not nice.

“I am sure it will keep coming up in future but to be honest we are all devastated.

“We will come in and watch the game again, which will probably be as hard as playing it.

“I have played in a lot of games when we have been well and truly beaten but it was a different level against Malmo.

“Malmo are a good team but no matter how good they are, we shouldn’t be getting beat 7-0.

“I think my previous biggest defeat was 6-0 when we played Barcelona at Murrayfield back in 2008 but at least that was a friendly.

“There are no excuses. We win, lose and play as a team. No one wanted to look at anyone in the dressing room afterwards. Everyone had their head down and it was a weird feeling.

“It seemed so easy for Malmo and we didn’t have any answers.”

Stevenson bristles at the claim Hibs lack the mental strength to cope with showpiece games.

However, their capitulation in the Scottish Cup Final two years ago and shameful display against Malmo suggest the bigger the game, the more brittle they become.

Stevenson confessed even a part-time side would have put up more of a fight than Pat Fenlon’s flops. And he knows his team have badly let down the 16,000 fans who turned out dreaming of a comeback from the 2-0 first-leg deficit only to be served up a horror show that had them rubbing their eyes in disbelief.

Stevenson added: “There are not many players left from the Scottish Cup Final defeat to Hearts who played against Malmo.

“You could have put any team out there, even a part-time side, and they’d have put on a better performance.

“Even though we had a fair bit of the ball, it was just far too easy for Malmo to score. We lacked composure and they seemed to have so much of it.

“Even in and around the box, we were diving into tackles and making it too easy for them.

“It was men against boys and the worst thing is letting the Hibs supporters down once again.

“We had a good crowd over in Malmo and we kept ourselves in the tie. We didn’t play well that night but we performed a lot better than we did at Easter Road.

“We thought we had a chance to go through. The first 10 minutes were decent enough but then we collapsed after losing a goal.

“That is what annoyed the manager most. It happened a few times last season as well but not on that scale. It is something that has to be cut out.”

I'm sure they will all have heavy growths, they shouldn't be able to look at themselves in the mirror either.

We all feel numb and we don't know what went wrong, well not putting a tackle in and backing off whilst the guy picks his spot, is just one of the things that went wrong. A bloody disgrace to the club, every man-jack of you.
