Peter Houston lost 7-1 at Ibrox in his first game in charge of united, he was caretaker and was subsequently given the job full time despite the heavy loss. Of course it was, sadly, the last time rangers scored 7 at home before being liquidated.

Paul Lambert wasn't sacked after Hibs thumped Livingston at Easter Road...

Nor was he sacked when Norwich got humped 1-7 at home on the first day of the season.

Infact, they got promoted that season :greengrin

Or 8-0 by Chelsea, I'm sure it was, last season

Wigan got hammered 9-1 By Tottenham, then went there the next season and won 1-0.

I'm not sure where the Wotherspiniesta quote came from but I'm 99% certain Lambert was in charge of the Colchester(?) team that pumped Norwich 7-1, before he took the Norwich job and lead them to promotion. Great manager and will be proven to be magnificent.

Bobby Seith had Hearts at the top of the league for several months of the 1973-74 season, including a 13-match unbeaten run.

Yes he was.

I think he resigned. It says a lot about his character that he's got to where he is now after such failure in his first managerial post.

Yes he was.

No he wasn't. He went on to manage Livingston in their next match against Dunfermline which they lost 1-0.

After that, he resigned.

After we beat Hearts 7-0, they won 4-1 in the next derby with the same manager the following September.

I was at Ibrox when the Huns beat us 7-0 and we were all singing to a man "Miller Must Go".

We then beat hearts 3-1 (I think) in the next game at ER. The difference was that back then we had good players in our team (like Michael O'Neill and Darren Jackson etc if my memory serves me correctly).

I am not in the least bit confident that the current shower of impostors wearing green and white can turn the latest 7-0 defeat around. They look like a bunch of slow, unfit, spineless, talentless goons, who no doubt think they are a lot better than they are.

Disgusting state of affairs. :boo hoo:

spot on mate ( oh it was 2-1 by the way) we dont have anything up front to bother defences, we lump the ball up and the ball comes right back, we have a mince defence and the goalkeeper can be a clown at times as well. not looking forward to the new season , think the bottom three will be between hibs hearts and partick just hope im wrong and we have a good season . also just read in the papers we are hoping for a top six place this season , great ambition from the players, they would be better saying nothing.

No a 0-7 shouldn't always mean a manager is fired or resigns. There are a couple of questions that are important though, particularly for Hibs and Fenlon:

1) How long has he been in the job for?
2) Could the result be categorized as a one-off or a fluke? Or have there been other capitulations/heavy losses?
3) What was the quality of the opposition?
4) How important was the game?

I suspect in Hibs case the answer to those questions makes uncomfortable reading and should lead to one conclusion.

Dundee Utd lost by 7 or 8 to Rangers in a League Cup Semi at Hampden. Ian McCall was sacked the following day.

Yes he was.

I thought Lambart resigned? As anyone with at least a shred of self-respect would do after a result like that.

Man United 8 Arsenal 2 Wenger never lost his job.

Man United 8 Arsenal 2 Wenger never lost his job.

That was away from home, and to be fair to Wenger he had given Arsenal quite a bit of success previously in his time at Arsenal. He'd also built a style of play that most folk find attractive and easy on the eye.

Now if Fenlon had done any of that at Hibs, perhaps he'd not be getting as hard a time as he is?
