Anyone else watch this on Channel 4 the other night?

Was the televised trial of Nat Fraser.

Peronally I enjoyed it. Was interesting to see parts of the trial process and how the main players interacted in court and on a personal level.

Well worth watching on 4od imo if you missed it.

It was fascinating. I worked at the high court during his first trial, saw him being sent down.

I've seen Prentice QC in action a few times. Very good.

IMO he did it and Hector Dick was his clear up man - certainly had a bigger role than he has so far admitted.

Pretty much the conclusion I drew from what they showed. Must have been a nightmare of a case to be a juror as so muc of the evidence was circumstancial and loosely connected.

Hector Dick seemed like a very strange man.

Yes, he was a co-accused in the first trial.

I didn't really get what the daughter said at the end... she was asked if she'd like to see him (Nat Fraser) come home... I didn't hear what she said...

I didn't enjoy it TBH, I have sat in the public gallery at the High Court on several occasions and enjoyed that much more.

From memory I think she said that if he were to come home she'd be the happiest person on the planet. Or, right at the end, she was asked what she would say if he ever admitted to her that he had done it; she said she wouldn't believe him.

I'm amazed that a majority of jury members considered there to be sufficient evidence to convict him beyond reasonable doubt. Very strange.

Thanks - I missed it because the phone rang.

Yes - brings about a question for agitators for capital punishment. Would a trial like that be satisfactory to see someone go to the gallows?

Good question. I kept waiting for the big reveal in the evidence that would seal the deal but it never came. Had I not known of the result in advance, my flabber would have been well and truly gasted.

Essentially, as John Scott QC said in his closing statement, the Crown was asking for a conviction based purely on the say so of Hector Dick - hardly the most trustworthy of characters as the past has shown.

If the evidence isn't strong enough to send someone to the gallows then it shouldn't be strong enough to give them a minor criminal record IMO.
