Does anyone know when UEFA will announce the split of the pots for the draw?

Does anyone know when UEFA will announce the split of the pots for the draw?

Last year they published nothing before the draw itself. That is next Monday so I assume the same will apply this year.

The pots apply to the group stages only.

All we know is that Hibs will be unseeded. The teams will be split into eight groups of ten teams (five seeded and five unseeded) for the second round draw.

Great city and great place to spend a few days drinking. Fans are hardcore though and have Rangers ties.

I'd prefer Sturm Graz.

Great city and fantastic stadium.

The Bundesland (state) that it's in is Stiermark (Styria). We could all do our bit for cultural relations and buy loads of the state flags to take to the game

We would still have to come through the 3rd qualifying round and then the play off round to make it to the group stages.

If we achieved that it would be a minor miracle.

Not impossible though if the draws are kind to us. I would rather we avoided the Utrecht's and Sparta Pragues etc at least for the first round we're in and get a few games in Europe.

Does anyone know what Pat Fenlon's record in Europe is like?

His 2004 season with Shelbourne saw Fenlon lead his squad past Icelandic champions KR Reykjavík and Croatian high-flyers Hajduk Split to a meeting with Spanish giants Deportivo la Coruña in the UEFA Champions League, becoming the first manager to reach the third qualifying round with an Irish club.

Both in Romania. One is a couple of hours from Bucharest, the other some distance away - indeed probably about the same distance from Bucharest as to Belgrade in Serbia!

Personally July is a nightmare for getting holidays in my work this year as everyone seems to want the last fortnight off. Ideally somewhere in Western Europe that my firm has an office and where I can fly out Wednesday evening, work Thursday from that office, go to the game, work Friday in that office and enjoy Saturday wherever we may be before flying home Sunday! :greengrin

Its been a long standing ambition to follow Hibs to a European game.

Until the last few years that was an impossible dream for me as the cost would have been out of the question.

Now I have the money, but no chance whatsoever of getting the days off work I would need in July.

It has to be the weakest possible team in the first game to give us a chance of getting through coz I'm on holiday for 2 weeks in August when, as far as I am aware, the next round will be played. Unfortunately for me this practically guarantees us a tough, but easy to get to first tie.

If Wikipidia is telling the truth, 7 teams automatically qualify for the group stages;

Wigan Athletic (England)
Valencia (Spain)
Freiburg (Germany)
Lazio (Italy)
Vitoria de Guimaraes ((Portugal)
Bordeaux (France)
Anzhi Makhachkala (Russia)

179 teams will compete for the remaining 41 group stage places over 4 rounds (3 rounds and a play off).

Can you imagine how much it would cost us if we were to make the Group stages

The prize money alone for reaching the group stage is 1.3m euros per team - on top of that you get 200k for every group stage win and 100k for every draw. Add to that tv revenue and additional gate money and it would be quite lucrative to a club our size.

Are hibs likely to offer packages for the away leg, or would fans need to make their own way? Will tickets be available through the club?

Also do we know if hibs are away in the first or second leg given their seeding?

Me & some mates are keen and I'm planning to book flights on Monday, however worst case we get a draw against the winner of team x vs team y. Last question (honest), any ideas on the time of the draw?

When we played in Slovenia a few years ago, I don't think we had any places for fans, but I could be wrong.

No because the first and second qualifying rounds are drawn on the same day.

If an unseeded team from the first round wins through they collect the seeding of the team they eliminated.

The draw for the third round is made before the second round matches have been completed so much the same applies there.

But given that, there is a chance that we could play an unseeded team even although we are unseeded ourselves. I think that was what the question was aiming at.

Cheers. Did Hibs sell tickets direct for the game? I'm a season ticket holder and the other lads who would be going are all on the Hibs database so getting tickets via. Hibs should be achievable should they sell them.

If we get a team who are already seeded in the 2nd round proper then booking flights wouldn't be an issue. Similarly, I'm thinking that if we were drawn against a first round winner then the two locations are within a reasonable distance of one another. I'd probably take my chance with the favourite, then rent a car if need be should the underdog win.

I didnt realise both rounds were drawn at the same time. I was wondering if for example a number of seeded teams were knocked out could we move up the list and possibly get a seeded place. Given both rounds are at same time we could still play previously unseeded team.

The club did try and put a chartered flight on for Slovenia, if my memory is right they wanted nearly £600, then changed it to £550 or thereabouts for a 2 day package.

We said sod that, and got flights from Manchester to Munich £60 return, car hire and fuel was roughly £70, and hotel was another £50-£60. The car journey was only 4 hours and the flight an hour.

The club will probably try and put another trip on i'd imagine, but if you scout around you can get to the game a lot cheaper with a little luck.

The only circumstance in which a charter could become attractive to me would be if we are fortunate enough to qualify for the Third Round. It is feasible that we don't know that until the conclusion of the second leg of our Second Round tie at, say, 10pm on Thursday 25 July. At that point we could be looking for flights for a first leg tie to take place on Thursday 1 August - guaranteed to be very expensive at any time of year, let alone the peak of summer!

If we end up being drawn against an Azeri or Kazakh team in that Third Round then getting a visa in that timescale could be nigh on impossible though, unless the club helps out. Both countries have embassies in London but you'd be paying top dollar for a turn around in that timeframe - an Azeri visa is about £150 using the non-express service!

It could be worse though - Luch Energiya Vladivostok were in the Russian Premier League from 2006 - 2008. Had they qualified for the UEFA Cup in that time, it would have been some journey: http://www.uefa.com/news/newsid=405053.html. Almost on the same longitude as Adelaide, Australia!

GOC must have played against them at least once for Lokomotiv.

With some of those far flung Russian clubs (Anzhi is another example), the teams are based in Moscow but then fly out to their "home" city for their home games. It kind of works because a) the foreign players are more prepared to be based there and b) a big share of the "away" games are in Moscow.

I think historically both Anzhi and Terek Grozny played their home games in Moscow due to security fears in the Northern Caucasus. Chechnya is surprisingly stable these days compared to a few years ago and Terek are about to move into a new 30,000 stadium in Grozny, albeit Dagestan (where Anzhi are from the capital, Makhachkala) is still seen as a bit "hot" by UEFA and they continue to play their games in Moscow.

It was drawn in secret last year although a video was produced subsequently.

Just have to wait for the draw to be posted on the UEFA Website.

Hibs and Saints are unseeded sides in the Europa League second qualifying round draw.

Rubin Kazan, Standard Liege, Trabzonspor and Utrecht are some of the seeded teams Hibs or St Johnstone could be drawn against.

The draw determines who plays first at home not the seeding.

And Hibs (6.158) were seeded when they played Maribor (2.891) in the Third Qualifying round in 2010.

Also a possibility.

The system does my head in as well, but this page expalins the seeding system:

http://kassiesa.home.xs4all.nl/bert/uefa/seedel2013.html

It's laid out as if the seeded teams in the 1st round have all qualified to round 2, but explains that, if they lose their 1st round tie, the team that beats them takes the seeding status with them into the next round. The second round shows 80 teams, 40 seeded, including the "assumed" seeded winners from round 1. So, for example, if Hibernians of Malta beat Rosenburg in round 1, Malta Hibs go through to round 2 as a seeded team (and could play Hibs :-)

Hope that helps!

I remember listening to the 2001/02 draw, sitting in 2nd year physics with a wee radio in my ear.

AEK was the nightmare draw in many ways: a very capable side, but hardly a glamorous one. Maribor was much the same.

For me, the best draw is the worst seed. Then the worst seed in the 3rd qual, then the worst seed in the play-off. Save the big boys for the group stages. :agree:

I'm struggling to work out for sure when the draw actually is our time. According to UEFA site it's at 14.30 CET (which is GMT+1) but the CET time zone also moves clocks forward by an hour in the summer, right? So does it mean GMT +2?

Official Hibs site doesn't really help as it says the draw is at 1.30pm GMT - so does it mean 2.30pm BST??

Here's hoping both FARE and UEFA will be present at the game with working microphones and a set of balls to do something.

Somehow, I doubt the latter.

What's more, you can just bet that Linfield fans (or more political loyalist groups) will be proximal and looking for trouble.

The pots have been announced by the looks of the St Johnstone twitter a/c - they will get one of Metalurgs, Skopje, Rosenborg, Trabzonspor or Astana

Hibs are in a different group of the draw.

So what pot are we in?

Don't think we're playing any of the teams in our pot - the pots are just for to quicken the draw I think - whoever is in your pot will play the home / away leg at the same time as you?

Had a terrible dream that we drew Hearts. Obviously, with our derby record, I woke up in cold sweat. Then I remembered: "it's okay, you can't draw them, they'll be in CL." Phew, that was a relief.

Excellent draw IMO, either team relatively easy to get to and if Drogheda managed it (highly unlikely I would have thought) it would be a very easy journey.

If its Malmo there's lots of travel options. Fly to Copenhagen then take train over bridge is probably best. Ryanair's flights to Copenhagen actually land in Malmo!!

I never get why people get so upset about this, they are supposed to be professional so shouldn't matter! Get intae them right from the start training or no training, surely haven't forgotten how to do their jobs! Ggtth!
