Prefer a big billboard close to or in Gorgie.
Discussions on content should prob be done on the pm board so to keep it a nice surprise for the yam roasters.

I know I'll get a million brickbats and boos but I really don't think this kind of thing is "Hibs Class".

"Hibs Class" to me means rising above all petty temptations and being seen as the best that anyone can aspire to.

Despite what is happening to our neighbours and there is no denying that they have largely brought this upon themselves, nevertheless I would like to think we Hibees could rise above this.

Let them self-implode.

Let us continue to show how clubs are run properly, honestly and morally.

Making cheap points should be beneath us. Please don't do this - it lowers us and we should be, we ARE better than this.

In the coming months you can expect to hear two things from Hertz fans:

(i) False bravado saying that 'it was worth it' for the Scottish Cups etc.
(ii) Claims that their debt is just like that of any other club that has a mortgage or a debt of any kind.

Therefore, I think it's important that we keep reminding them that firstly, their precious 1-5 and their demise are inextricably connected, and secondly, their debt was accrued in its entirety behind pumping money into salaries to gain an advantage on the pitch, i.e. cheating, it was never their money, they were never going to pay it back, and now we know it wasn't Mr Romanov's either.

I respect your opinion, but I say it's nothing like a cheap shot, rather it's our duty.

Yes, it is a cheap point IMO.

We know how badly they have behaved but it doesn't mean that we have to stoop to their level.

We should be above that. Your post suggests we should indulge in behaviour that's unacceptable just because they did. We should be better than that

We know what they did was wrong. We don't need to do wrong because they did.

Doing this would just show that we wanted to make a cheap and unnecessary point.

By mocking them for what has happened is pretty much a duty as they are are rivals. If you really think we should sit back and say nothing because its not "Hibs class" you are mistaken. Any derby rivals in world football would be doing something to wind the other fans up if this was happening to another club. We took it on the chin with the 1-5 carry on. We have a chance to have a bit fun nothing more nothing less and for everyone including tourists will see this and know what happened. That's why I thought of it being a funny idea. Fair dos if you don't want to pay into it that's ok by me. But when hundreds see this driving around town the EEN will pick it up along with other papers and believe me this will seriously piss them right off. So even if not one person wanted to do it I myself would go ahead and do it myself :D they had it coming so lets just enjoy it.

If we asked the club about the fake Vlad notes they may not agree in public but I know for a fact they found this funny. In fact lets be honest how will it show us in bad light? By having a pic of Vlad with a Hibs top on saying something like.. "Mission accomplished" that's harmless fun and I think you need to lighten up a little mate. They are a horrible bunch,,,they sold the soul of their club to Romanov and never even admitted it to themselves. Even before then have had an arrogance way beyond their right. They are a narrow minded broadly disliked club, who frankly have never had the ethics and values that are the core foundation of our community connected club. They have artificially lorded over us through their financial doping for years...it is our duty to stick it right up them in the most imaginative and fresh ways we can....posters, billboards, photos at Tynie (well done that crew!) and newspaper adverts are the least we should get up to....let's get it on ......

They would have to say, 'they' being the public face of the club, that they don't approve. As for what they would think as individuals... I would imagine that most of them would find it hilarious.

Can I ask you something? Why do you think that a banner taking the piss out of Hertz problems is 'stooping to their level'? (Their level being, in this instance, systematic cheating using other people's money.)

Agree with this 100% mate!

Not having a go at you I just think your reading way to much into a practical joke.

Excuse me, please don't patronise me by saying I need to lighten up just because you don't agree with me. The fact that you have a different opinion does not mean that my opinion has less value than yours.

You say you know the Club agrees with your opinion "in private". I doubt this very much.

If you think this idea of yours is so great then present it to the Club and see if they approve.

If they don't, will you go ahead with it?

I think it's something that fans think is funny but our Club could do without it.

If HFC approves then I approve. If not, them I fully support the club.

I actually think we've let them off incredibly lightly compared to what other teams would have done if in our situation. Even Celtic with all the banners they made for them in their last meeting with them, was more than we have done!.....so far!

Jeezo calm yourself down to a panic. I wasn't patronizing you at all. I respect your opinion as well. I just said lighten up. No offense was intended.

I never said the club approved, read it again I said the "Vlad notes" they found funny. When the fans printed out loads to mock them.

Also why do you need the clubs approval to then approve it yourself?? So my idea is rubbish until the club say its ok then you are happy?

And yes I will go ahead with it because I'm not asking anyone to approve an idea of mocking our rivals. Do we run to them with a song sheet and ask what we can sing and what we can't. No disrespect intended here but your coming across a bit stuck up, not because of your opinion but the way you are saying everything must run by the club etc.. If your no happy then feel free to ignore this thread. Or is that me being patronizing too??

If you're going to stick solely with everything that the club says then you're never going to join in with any banter or mock Hearts in any way because the club won't do something like that in public, rightly in my opinion as it is unprofessional.

However, I don't think it's reasonable to expect football fans to witness the slow death of their biggest rivals and not to have some fun at their expense.

I don't see the problem with it myself. The fans of every single club in the world would do exactly the same in our position.

Have a look at the stuff Celtic displayed at Celtic Park when Rangers were dying, presumably with their board's approval.

The Vlad picture is tame by comparison.

I have to say that this isn't for me. By all means make banners etc... but something in a paper or billboard? I think that's taking it a little too far.

Do we really need to say anything about their situation at all? I prefer to just sit back and watch the madness unfold while taking the moral high ground and saying I told you so. The 5-1 chickens are coming home to roost and everyone knows it.

I suppose it would be funny but I'm out. Sorry, just my point of view.:greengrin

Are there any legal implications for lampooning someone like this in public? If it was a genuine picture I would see no problem. Photoshopping something and parading it may be different.

This is a smashing idea guys ill gladly pay the £20 for the billboard picture of vlad in the hibs top with a message. No sure about the van though as it'll get pelted with things on its way around the city.

I know if the shoe was on the other foot I'd not be happy... Which is the point really isn't it :D

Keith_M
17-06-2013, 10:06 AM
It seems like a humorous idea but I seriously doubt that any advertising company would go along with this. The local council and police would also have something to say.

If you DID get a poster up, it'd get burned down within hours and a van driving round the city with the Ad would get pelted with stones or worse.

What the Celtc fans did about Rangers/Sevco was good but that was all AT matches, not in the street.
