View Full Version : Europa League qualifying round

It is now vital that Hibs get through their first qualifying match.

This is because I have checked the leave chart at work and it looks like there is no chance I will be able to get the days off I would need to get to an away match in July.

For those of you who can go this now means that Hibs will get a fantastic away trip in this round. Probably Standard Leige, Utrecht or Lech Poznan.

That also means we will probably get knocked out and I will never get to see Hibs in a bloody European away game :dummytit:

I am really wanting to go this year providing the cost is going to be reasonable and it is a good draw

Someone said to me that if we win our 2nd qualifying round, where we're unseeded, we would be seeded in the 3rd round. Anyone confirm this or not?

If an unseeded team beats seeded team the unseeded team takes the coefficient of the team they defeated into the next round. It then depends in whether the new coefficient is high enough to be seeded in the next round. I hope that makes sense.

It does, so ideally we want a decent ranking team in the 2nd round

I've traveled away with hibs on a few occasions now and it's the best away trips I've ever been on I personally would rather we get IFK Goteborg in the cup as when we played Elfsborg in the inter toto we all had a great time and the locals were brilliant with us.

Would be nice to go to liege as my old man talks about there a lot and seemed to enjoy that trip.

I'm up for anywhere though, credit card with 0% apr already applied for and accepted. Do your worst UEFA!!!

I can't seem to find the thread showing the teams we could draw in the Europa League qualifying round.

Could a kind soul either provide a link for it or put the list on this thread?

Cheers Hibees.

You missed out Rosenborg, Zilina, Levski Sofia, CSKA Sofia, Videoton, etc who are in the first round draw but will be seeded for the second if they make it through.

just thinking out loud here but was looking on Wikipedia for the prize money for progressing through each round..First qualifying round: €100,000
Second qualifying round: €100,000
Third qualifying round: €100,000
Play-off round: €100,000
Base fee for group stage: €1,300,000
Group match victory: €200,000
Group match draw: €100,000
Group winners: €400,000
Group runners-up: €200,000
Round of 32: €200,000
Round of 16: €350,000
Quarter-finals: €450,000
Semi-finals: €1,000,000
Losing finalist: €2,500,000
Winners: €5,000,000.............. imagine if we got to the group stages that would be 1,900,000 guaranteed, so how much does that mean to a club the size of hibs? it would be quality http://www.hibs.net/images/smilies/thumbs%20up.gifI know its highly unlikely but that would secure Griffiths claros and another couple of good high calibre players. Still dreaming:greengrin:greengrin:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I was sure seeded teams are at home for the second leg, meaning our trip away would be 25th July. Anyone able to confirm?

They have to go into the Communities League Cup, the round before us, before us because they finished outside the top 8 in the SPL

I'm not long back from Israel. Fantastic country with incredible history. Tel Aviv is a very European city and easy to get to (Easyjet from Luton). Would love to go back with the Hibees!

You will not find any English teams in the Third Round. Wigan go straight to the Group Stages while Tottenham and Swansea will come in at the Playoff Round.

Sevilla and Udinese will be there though.

I went to Belgrade with Wales and although they do have some scary fans everyone we came across where very friendly. We played against a Serbia supporters team and although on the pitch they where dirty of it they where all very nice and provided us with food, drink and Serbian survivors. Saying that there where more police at the supporters game than are in the away end for a derby. If Hibs where to go there we will be looked after and very protected by the police force so I would say the risk would be very limited.

Poland, Russia, italy, Croatia and Serbia were all featured in that danny dyer prog. All looked pretty intense and to be honest its hardly surprising. Sure I hear something about the Maribor fans being slightly hostile when we went over there.

Yes there are a lot of Polish workers in Edinburgh. But not 30 odd thousand or so! I'm sure all those Polish folk in Edinburgh won't just support the one team if we were to draw a Polish side, most likely Lech Poznan. Their will be a mixture of Polish clubs the current Poles that are staying in this country would support, that they were brought up to support. Wisla Krakow, Legia Warsaw, Slask Wroclaw etc. I say we would get something like 50,000 if we got to the group stages and drew a couple of big European Major Clubs.
